Also travels well, I'm able to throw it in my bag next to my laptop when I travel and it's great for hotel downtime.
If you're a very casual gamer who only plays one or two games at a time, the Series S may be a good buy. But I'm pretty casual, don't have a ton of games, and I've been struggling with the 500GB storage limit on my PS4 for a couple years now. It can only be worse with newer games.

*Except when playing a game that is One X Enhanced and has not been Series S enhanced yet. The Series S will run the game in the original Xbox One mode; while, the One X will run the game in One X mode.

The biggest complaint for 3rd party devs was that they were being forced to support multiple platforms - PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One, Xbox One X, Series S, Series X, and PS5
When the PS4/Xbox One came out - one year later there was no more 3rd party titles for the ps4 and if there was they were severely gimped.
Call of Duty Ghosts was not a complete package at launch for the PS3/Xbox 360 because it was created with the PS4/Xbox One in mind.
Developers have all stated multiple times, in multiple news outlets, since before the Series S hit shelves - the Series S is forcing developers to put a bottleneck on games
We never will see true next gen 3rd party titles because of the existence of the Series S.
Is the Series S great for people who cant afford a Series X/PS5 Digital? Sure
Will it help Microsoft build the number of subscribers to their digital services like Game Pass? Definitely.
But it's not fair that the majority of people - millions of people - who spent $400-500 on a brand new console generation - should have to deal with compromises
I get they are trying to make consoles like an upgradeable system with plans to keep this gen going for 10 years with incremental updates - ex: Series X Pro/2 etc - but it will be the same controller/UI only the internals would be updated similar to how Dell/Apple updates the internals for its computers without changing the external chassis/design
It's just a poor compromise - the Series S should have been $100 cheaper with no drive just like the PS5. Now they have fragmented the user base and screwed developers over big time - less time for developers to focus on things that matter = buggy, crap games
Best example is COD Black Ops Cold War - the most systems any 3rd party game has been developed for - and it showed - much of it was half baked because the developers were on a crunch to make sure it ran well on all platforms equally so they would avoid the Cyberpunk style backlash if it was advertised to work for an inferior system and it didnt perform well.
However, if you have a 4k tv, DO NOT get the Series S, either get the older generation one x or wait to get the series X. Series S supports max 1440p resolution and such resolution does not look good on 4k tv.
Note: I owned One X, Series S, and Series X.
Either way, you're talking about $200 difference at some point.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare a last gen title that came out almost 2 years ago is currently sitting at 280GB and counting with new updates 10-20GB added
That's an old generation title now imagine a truly next gen title that will eat up 85-90% of the systems entire storage
Microsoft wanted to get as many people into the ecosystem but forcing developers to cater to a console that is much less powerful than the next gen consoles was a short sighted move that will only hurt consumers
