Some water companies have rebate on these items. And Flume also provides a letter for homeowners insurance company that will help to reduce the premium. See if you have those two.. then the actual cost of investment might be less. YMMV

I cannot speak to the Flume 2, but I have had the Flume 1 for about a year...
It wasn't worth it since the connection dropped all of the time and I needed to put their "sensor" on the second story of my house about 20-30' from the water main. Also, they just stopped supporting SMS and a few other notification options for those that are interested.
I only cared about the app personally.
For what it is worth, my main is on the street covered with a solid cast iron top and probably 3' under the surface.
I never felt like the "flow" rate was accurate either... month-to-month water bill showed it off by 2-4k gallons a month, but the point is to see if you have a leak not really how much water is being used.

I am using the flume 2 - for me the bridge is 40' away and it is working well for me. My water company offers rebate on it and they also give a letter for the homeowners insurance company that will help to reduce the premium. If you have those two, your actual cost of investment might be less.
I've been pretty happy with the flume 2. No connection issues and it seems to be pretty accurate. It alerted me to a sprinkler that didn't close that otherwise would have run for hours. Sadly, I was asleep when the alert first popped so it did run for a few hours anyway!
Check your homeowners insurance - they may offer a discount and possibly an insurance premium reduction. Mine offers a rebate on the flume but not the reduction since the flume can't shutoff the water. My insurance does offer a discount for the Flo by Moen.

That is an interesting though. How much of a premium reduction? I wonder if you had Habitat or some automation interact with Flume if that would help.
