The ASRock B550M STEEL LEGEND configuration seems reasonable and is significantly less than the listed MSRP. Anyone more knowledgeable than me have an opinion about this motherboard?
I'm looking for a microATX home for an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X CPU
Also, the close counterpart, ASRock B550M PRO4, is at only $90. Maybe this is truly the better deal since I don't see much different except for a removed 4 pin power port and aesthetics.
Only word of warning on ASRock's budget boards I have is that you won't be able to fit a larger air cooler like the Noctua NH-D15 on them. If you are going smaller air like something with a 12" fan and a radiator of matching size, or going liquid, then it's not a big deal. ASRock's budget boards for some reason line up the top PCI-e slot with the first expansion slot on the PC case. Their higher models starting with the Taichi line up the top PCI-e slot with the second expansion slot. This gives them a lot more room to place a bigger air cooler.
I had very bad exp with ASRock CSR lately, I bought B460 and hooked up 2 GPU but only 1 got detected every time. Got RMA but still same issue.
Tried same combination with older ASRock z97 everything works fine (no SW issue).
Talked to multiple CSRs no issue, they ask routine stuff to reset/reformat etc, but dont know what to do next. They are not interested in 2nd RMA and keeps blaming my system setup for some reason.
