NOCO GENIUS10, 10-Amp Fully-Automatic Smart Charger

https://smile.amazon.com/NOCO-GEN...PDKIKX0DER
GENIUS10 - Similar to our G7200, just better. It's 17% smaller and delivers 115% more power. It's the all in one solution battery charger, battery maintainer, trickle charger, plus battery desulfator.
Do more with Genius - Designed for 6-volt and 12-volt lead-acid automotive, marine, and deep-cycle batteries, including flooded, gel, AGM, and maintenance-free, plus lithium-ion batteries.
Enjoy precision charging - An integrated thermal sensor detects the ambient temperature and alters the charge to eliminate over-charging in hot climates and under-charging in cold climates.
Charge dead batteries - Charges batteries as low as 1-volt. Or use the all-new force mode that allows you to take control and manually begin charging dead batteries down to zero volts.
Restore your battery - Automatically detects battery sulfation and acid stratification to restore lost battery performance for stronger engine starts and extended battery life.
Beyond maintenance - It's not just a trickle charger, it's an advanced battery maintainer. A fully-automatic, worry-free battery charger for everyday use - 24/7 - with zero overcharge.
Compatible with all types of vehicles - charge and maintain cars, motorcycles, lawn mowers, ATVs, lawn tractors, trucks, SUVs, boats, PWCs, classic cars, and more.

For the exact same price you can get the Pro-Logix PL2320 which is 10x better than all of the NOCO Genius line. It does all battery types that the NOCOs do, plus a power supply mode, and does 20amp charge with a LCD voltage readout. This is the exact same model that Snap-On and Mac Tools rebrand for their own chargers.

I have a bunch from this brand and I am happy with all of them. I guess I don't need this one. I have 1, 2 and 5 amp models, both some older and a new one (this generation). They are excellent once you get used to how to control them.

The older one's (and most "smart" "safe" chargers) won't charge a really low or dead battery because they want to see a moderate voltage (a few volts) to know they are hooked-up correctly and not in reverse. The problem was that they wouldn't even turn on with a "dead" battery. This new series changes the level down to 1V they say, so almost any battery will show that, unless it's completely messed-up (at which point it might never come back to functional again).

The 10-amp will charge, obviously, much faster than the slower 2 or 5-amp ones. On the other hand, in general slow charging is better for the battery, but it depends on if you're in a hurry. There are also some models with "boost" that can start a car quickly. But in general, if you have time, plug it in overnight and you'll be good to go the next day with the slower models.

Amazon often has these on sale (they must have some agreement with the Manufacturer) and especially on Prime Day and BF you can get like 1/2-off deals which is really good if you need one.

Also this has special settings for sealed ("gel-cell") type batteries and even new Li-Ion ones, plus a "Repair" setting that might help restore an older battery to give it a bit more life.

I also have a 2 or 5amp off these. The unit is fine, but the repair never worked for me. Could have been the batteries I tried.

But this Noco is $65 and the one you linked to is $80. Good to know which brands are reputable though.

Thanks, didn't see that. Looks like the Pro Logic 10 amp version [amazon.com] is even cheaper with the 20% off.

A bit cheaper, just don't know if it's better. I can't find a Snap On battery maintainer that looks like that. Not saying there isn't one, but I can't find it on Snap On site.

I saw a review that mentioned this Clore does not trickle charge or maybe they had a bad unit?

I need something to sit on my 2006 era Honda * Touring that has a voltage leak somewhere. Car is only used every two weeks and the darn battery is drained each time.

Trying to decide if I should purchase the 10 or 20amp Clore you mentioned, this GENIUS10, or just stick with my Genius G3500.

The issue with the G3500 is I need to jump the battery before it allows me to charge it. Then switch it to the 6V mode for a couple of hours followed by charging at the 12V mode. A real PIA.

It also seems crazy slow, but I guess you want to charge batteries slow... been running in 12V mode for 12 hours and still at 75%.

It doesn't claim a charge profile for Lithium Ion.

I got it (thxs!) despite some reviews of quality control. Anyways, Li-On charging without balancing taps is a poor/slow way of charging, and the profile is moot with mostly those batteries having integrated BMS circuits.

I bought the Genius10 last year for around this price and it has been a life saver. It charged my Jeep's AGM battery within a couple of hours, and I kept it on during parts of the winter for trickle charging to counter my lack of driving and the parasitic draw from one of my accessories. It revived one of our other car's battery that the mechanic told us to replace 8 months ago, my neighbor's 5 year old Explorer battery, and my parents' Explorer battery several times (though they are old and kept leaving lights on).

For me, this is a deal killer.

if you lose power during charging, it does not restart, in fact it will actually slowly discharge the battery so it is not a good choice for an unattended battery minder application
Power at my place doesn't go out a ton, but it does go out occasionally.

The Noco Genius have memory and will pick up where they left off.

As far as the Genius goes, is it worth $19 more to get the 10A over the 5A if what I primarily want to use it for is a battery maintainer?
