Good deal, thanks OP.

FYI

Good idea to do a clean install of Windows every now and again. That's why Microsoft has made it so easy (Start > Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > "Reset this PC") and 20 minutes later you are good to go.

Good deal, thanks OP.

FYI
Quote :
Most big name (Acer, Asus, Apple, Dell, HP, Lenovo, ect..) low budget pre-built computers like this come with propriety cases, PSU, and motherboards now a days. Their higher end computers may come with standard size parts.

The other parts are standard (CPU, RAM, drives, fans, graphics cards, ect..) and can be added/removed/swapped/upgraded

not this again..

for the "build your own" enthusiasts, yes this is poor quality, but if you need something to play games on, it's not a bad deal (especially with the amex $120 offer if it hasn't expired yet).

if you need upgradeability, look elsewhere, since it uses proprietary parts.

i'm also hearing that gpu prices are slowly starting to normalize. God knows how long before they're fully down to MSRP, but if all you need is a gpu or if you're trying to resell the gpu, might want to do a bit more research.

Summary: replace the cpu cooler and add vram heatsink. Windows media creation tool to install fresh windows. Okay if you do that. cost about $40.

Exactly. I did the same. I have two of these systems with an I-5 10400 and a 3060 ti and 5700 XT. Instead of looking for videos on how bad at these systems are search YouTube for how easy it is to upgrade these systems. You can also easily add an intake fan in the front and upgrade the cpu cooler. I also have a Dell OEM 1660 super from an XPS and while it's not great it can mine Ethereum all day at 30 mh while running cool.

I added a fan on the front for an intake (used the stock exhaust fan as intake) and added an upgraded fan for exhaust, that didn't workout in my favor since the intake was as fast as the exhaust and we can't use dual fans on exhaust to be able to evacuate hot air faster than intake air. The gpu fan started working overtime to cool down the gpu.

So need a higher rpm exhaust fan but the mobo is tricky to work with since it's proprietary fan connectors and it won't control aftermarket fans independently.

get a sata to 3 or 4 pin power connector with lower rpm fans or a sata power/fan speed controller. I'd get the sata power and lower speed fans and just let them run at full blast all the time. it's okay if your intake is faster than the exhaust, air will just escape case seams and having positive case pressure is better to keep dust out.

I used the 3 to 4 splitter that came with the fan Noctua fan and I know it's ok if intake is faster but my gpu temps didn't appreciate at while mining and the gpu fan was trying to keep temps down by running at almost 100%. So I might try the data fan speed controller and play with that to find the right rpm combo for the fans to work together.

I'd take the exhaust fan off of motherboard control and power it with sata to run full blast since it seem you have an issue with removing heat rather than intake. Fan noise is going to be your only issue, but since you are mining you have to expect that. it's not good to power 4 fans on one oem motherboard header (if i understand you correctly), it might work but it might blow the header eventually.

You can always add exhaust fans to the exterior of the case, either doubling up existing exhaust location to overcome resistance of the case grille or adding one to the rear pcie port openings.

I only tried one intake and one exhaust. Not counting the cpu fan or the gpu fan. So I really only added 1 fan to the stock configuration but I remove the intake and now am using the Noctua fan as my exhaust in place of the Oem exhaust fan and everything is running cool while mining at 29 MH/s and doing other work on the machine while mining.
