Good deal, thanks OP.

FYI

Good idea to do a clean install of Windows every now and again. That's why Microsoft has made it so easy (Start > Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > "Reset this PC") and 20 minutes later you are good to go.

Abs challenger and cyberpowerpc
Those were either not in stock, grossly more expensive by hundreds or had a lower tier gpu. The abs is from Newegg for $1000 out of stock.

I can't really argue that, it's good reasoning and has worked well for you. You did your research and found it still holds value - while I am sure that holds for other SDers, I still wouldn't bill this as a slam dunk deal.

I just scratch my head when people dismiss the GN video as rubbish - everything they say is true - granted, not totally relevant to the average SDer, but definitely relevant for those who are in the business and in the know making recommendations to those not in the know. I just don't know why some people are advocating to actively dismiss the experts when there are no other counter points from reputable reviewers - if you can get around the issues with the build, great, but must most people won't even know there are issues, won't install a new OS, don't know how / want to swap out CPU coolers, etc. which is needed with this pre-built.
Glad to see some civil discourse for once. I agree with you here, not greatest deal even for Dell. Earlier part of this year similar systems were around $600 mark multiple times. I jumped on the recent $650 XPS 11400 1660 super deal due to cashbacks, 11th gen i5, and it has igpu output unlike g5.

You're also right that if any SDer here is unwilling or incapable of swapping cpu cooler, other simple mods, or even reinstalling fresh copy windows then they may wanna think twice… about buying ANY PC lol. Probably better off with Mac.

not this again..

for the "build your own" enthusiasts, yes this is poor quality, but if you need something to play games on, it's not a bad deal (especially with the amex $120 offer if it hasn't expired yet).

if you need upgradeability, look elsewhere, since it uses proprietary parts.

i'm also hearing that gpu prices are slowly starting to normalize. God knows how long before they're fully down to MSRP, but if all you need is a gpu or if you're trying to resell the gpu, might want to do a bit more research.
Regardless of the times, you should stay away from the dumpster fire that is Dell.

Look at Linus Tech Tips or Gamers Nexus about these machines. You don't need a lot of computer know-how for it, just see the conclusion or Dell specific sections on their prebuilts. Dell as a company and the way it treats its customers is a train wreck. Also, the computer, the parts, build quality, and fit and finish are in general terrible too.

Use, literally almost anyone else, if you're in the market for a prebuilt. It isn't even about how hard/easy it would be to source the parts, Dell is a complete no go and 100% stay away from.

No, you will never get cashback credit for that. Go to Dell's site and see if you can find this exact configuration - you can't. This deal is tied to SlickDeals as the affiliate; i.e., you will only see this exact configuration, price, and working coupon code if you click through the link here, which will embed SlickDeals as the click-thru affiliate. It sucks, but that's the way it's being done.

GN trashes the gpu but then does gaming tests and it performs the same as the other brands lmao. Then he says "muh longevity".

Guess what, I'm mining now with this dell system for a month 24/7 and I swear I'll go to his YouTube next year and tell him my dell is still running and it has paid itself off.
No it doesn't. The bloatware and whatever other proprietary things Dell did to the computer make it perform worse in gaming, along with that... we'll call it a stick of RAM, but it's so bad.

He shows it with and without the preinstalled crap and performance that it eats up is massive and inexcusable.

We have 3 of these Dell G5 with various graphics cards, 16GB ram, 1TB NVMe drives, and a clean install of Windows 10. All are performing very well and we have not seen any heat or noise issues. My kids play the newest games on them daily (CSGO, Doom Ultimate, TF2, HOI4, Call of Duty Modern Warfare, ect.) While simultaneously having YouTube open, a couple web pages, and messenger programs. .I feel as though the build quality was quite good for the price I paid. I could not be more satisfied with our purchase.

yes - these use standard CPU sockets and chipsets and can run any of the 10th generation CPUs .
https://dl.dell.com/topicspdf/g-s..._en-us.pdf

Just make sure to do a clean reinstall of Windows to best use the new chip.

Just add to cart, go to Dell through the eb@te$/r@kuten site and checkout. I already got the cash back update email from them for $73 earned.
