With BestBuy's Student Deal program, this 2020 model is $100 lower than the deals I've see lately. Might be a good alternative to people on the market for an iPad Air, since this is just $80 more than today's Prime Day sales from various vendors and you get twice the storage, 120hz ProMotion display, Face ID, Dual Cameras with Lidar (not that this really matters lol), etc.
  1. Go to https://www.bestbuy.com/site/back-to-school/college-student-deals/pcmcat276200050000.c [bestbuy.com] and sign up for BestBuy account and Student Deals (if you have not done so already)
  2. Then go here: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/promo/student-deal-ipad-pro-11-inch [bestbuy.com] and you'll see all the models that are $200 off.
For example, the 11" 2020 model with 128GB and A12Z processor is here: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/appl...Id=3756005

Multiple models and configurations are available--including a couple of expensive 2021 M1 model configurations.

Edit: M1 models are sold out.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Should I go this deal or iPad Air 4 64gb for $520 (yesterdays deal)?

Seems like 600 is a big jump, but wondering if the tech is worth it

I would say this deal as it has double the storage and a few more features like face id, pro motion, ect.

I bought air 4 with edu discount on Apple yesterday as it came with free iPods for $550. Will this be better than those 2 combined for another $50 more? Any help is appreciated.

Looks pretty good deal. Matching Costco deal even after the 100 off coupon
The real deal at Costco was for the M1. If everyone thinks this is a hot deal, not sure why more didn't jump on that recent Costco deal. That deal, now expired, was $750 - $100 coupon for the 128GB Apple iPad Pro 11" M1. So only $50 more for the new 2021 M1 Pro than this 2020 model.

I think if you don't need the air pods really then you should get this as ipad pro 2020 will beat this in most (not all) cases. I think air pod are always discounted and there are better alternatives to them and half the price.

Lot of people have returned their iPad 2021 and apple has a big stock of refurbished iPad Pro's. Personally I feel either I will go with basic or pro as iPad air adds lesser value to basic than pro. However if you combined apple edu deal with BB/target gift cards then nothing can beat it at this time.

I have the Air 4 and love it. I think the A14 chip makes it easily comparable to the previous gen Pro in almost every way. However, 64GB of storage is kind of a deal breaker these days.

Worked out well for me

Original Price = 799
Old 6th Gen iPad trade-in = 160 (I got this iPad for 150 thru Xfinity Customer deals Big Grin)
Student Deal = 200
Amex Benefit = 100

Total to me = 339 + Tax

Def a steal. Thanks OP

I would definitely get the iPad Air, and I would get it directly from apple to make use of the free AirPods offered to students. I was in the same boat 6 months ago, I decided to go with air over the pro. No regrets

I would advise buying 128gb minimum when buying any iPad, especially if the buyer plans on keeping it for a while.

64gb is too limited these days, and will not age well.

Price the 128gb Air and then compare it to the Pro. That is a more fair comparison.

Most will opt for the Pro.

For $100 more you'll have double the storage, FaceID, faster processor and also 120hz screen which is super nice. I'd suggest you to go with this unless you have super tight budget. Hope that helps.

I was wondering about that myself. It looks like suddenly there is no stock. I was gonna actually trade in my 2020 toward a 2021 model with the edu deal and found that none of the local Apple Stores have any. Guessing the A12Z is better than no iPad Pro at all?

Just want to throw out there that I own this model and have used it pretty much daily since getting it in September. It's great for what I use it for (WFH) and makes taking a high quality camera and microphone on the road with me to work elsewhere very simple. I got it on the EDU deal at the time, sold the AirPods on eBay and walked away having spent just under $650 on it. It's still an excellent tablet and I hope they'll support it for at least another 3 or 4 years. It just stings that I ended up getting my first iPad in a year that they decided to do an upgrade the very next year. I didn't know much about Apple's history of having done this in the past and assumed it would remain the current model for more than a year. You live and learn, I guess. One thing the 2020 model lacks that I wish it had (other than the M1 and extra ram for future proofing) is the camera that automatically centers you in the frame during video calls. That feature would have the most relevance for me for doing televideo work meetings.

Unless Apple unexpectedly revamps iOS to take advantage of all this hardware capability, I doubt you'll really have a much different experience on your iPad compared to the new model if that makes you feel better.
