Hardware wise,
The 920+ has a faster cpu and more RAM. Go with the 920+

What's the difference

I can never tell from the model numbers is this better than the one that was on Amazon prime yesterday.

Also is it easier to use an older desktop and how to put additional nvme card support in a desktop to make an NAS

The 920+ from Amazon yesterday was better. It has a better processor with 2 more cores, more built in ram, and an extra year warranty I believe.

It depends on the motherboard but you can usually find PCI and PCI Express expansion slots which you could use to add support for m.2 drives, more sata connections, usb ports, etc. I keep looking at these NAS but I can't justify the cost to performance when compared with my old desktop/server. If you have a old desktop lying around I would definitely recommend this before dropping the money on a NAS... you could even install Synology OS on it if desired.

The time and additional dollars it would take to do the desktop coversion...why not just get a NAS device? Smaller too.

And likely lower electricity cost as well.

Why is this getting thumbs up?

$13 less than another model that was posted yesterday (and still available for $39 more) that is superior
