I'm not recommending anyone to buy MacBook (I have never owned one)
But won't you agree that M1 can just sip on battery and keep lapping these Intel/AMD processors on every benchmark there is ...

I'm just saying what I said before Intel/amd should do something better and then increment their product lines .. if 5700U and 4700U are both Zen2 , then maybe 5700U should have been called 4750U
Make it easier for consumer to decide and not try to sneak in an old product with a new name

This thing is great. The screen looks no worse than any normal laptop. It's not nearly as bad as I expected from all the nonsense here, completely serviceable.

Other than that the thing is a rocket. I hope people realize that they are getting an honest to God desktop replacement in a form factor that is .7 inches thick. It's crazy. I ran geekbench and it got 59xx which is like ryzen 7 1700x performance, from a laptop!

I feel bad for anyone that missed this deal because they listened to people here.

I do believe it is full aluminum aside from the bottom piece but it's thin clearly because you can flex the keyboard if push hard enough where I couldn't on my also Aluminum Spectre X360.
I'm glad I got the deal too and ignored the comments about the screen. My Amex offer had a higher hurdle (spend 1K or more) but I was able to get 10% cash back through another cash back site.

Aside from the nomenclature, you know you are comparing apple to oranges right? It's like comparing a Tesla S and my Toyota Corolla. Ryzen 5900H is probably more on par with an M1 and depending on which site or benchie there's a slim margin going to M1.

Thanks for the comment but I absolutely do not understand. 5900H to M1 ??
You can take any processor on Intel/AMD side , take their benchmark score and divide by their TDP, that'd give you the most "apples to apples" comparison and believe me you'll be looking at an even ginormous leap on the Apple side
Anyways feel free to ignore my comment . Not the place for this discussion

I see you are specifically referring to power consumption and performance.

#NobodyCares. If you want a MacBook get a MacBook, if you want a computer that can actually do computer things get a PC.

Not that it matters anymore. but yes it's sharp, I didn't notice any color issues and the brightness is average.

This is a very powerful computer with an average screen. That's not saying it's bad just don't expect a gaming laptop. It's a similar screen to my Spectre X360 (though not glossy) and a better screen than my HP Elitebook I use for work.

thanks for your input. i slept on it as I as I needed to contemplate getting a 15" laptop or not as I am in need of a 14" laptop for portability 80% of the time. I should have put the order in but it was late and I didn't want to create a Dell account until this morning. Maybe it'll come back, who knows.

I noticed my cart has a -$100 coupon. so that takes it to 819.99 before amex. now.

This same deal was around at the beginning of June, so probably will come back.

hope it does. was looking at asus a bit but their model naming convention is a bit wacked, hard for me to research which models are new, which are old, and many of their laptops direct from the asus store are only 8GB (onboard) while this Dell is 16GB. My current 12GB laptop has been having power up problems which have become more frequent in recent weeks.

You should check the dimensions. The bezel on this dell are so thin that it's only 1.2 inches wider than my 2016 13 inch spectre x360. It's negligibly thicker too maybe .3 inches deeper. It's very possibly the same size as a 14 inch laptop from a couple years ago.

The bezel on this thing is ridiculously small. When I first opened the box I seriously thought they were cheating on the screen size, but lo and behold the screen size is right on, the small bezel just makes it look like a 14".
