Getting back into doing voiceovers & my old mic broke, getting this until I find a decent replacement. Thanks.

Debating between this (Neewer NW-8000) or TKGOU M799B microphones for a first time streamer (low-budget)
Any tips would be great, thanks!

Spec vs Spec the Newer appears to be better than the TKGOU on paper:

[TKGOU vs Newer]
48khz/16bit vs 192khz/24bit sampling rate
100hz-16khz vs 20hz-20khz frequency response

I can't speak for the actual experience and built quality however. You also get a few more extras with the Newer bundle.

I'm guessing the microphone is not great. A lot of times, they make these look like a traditional large diaphragm condenser mic, but it's just a tiny dynamic mic inside the nice shell.

On the other hand, $22 is not a bad price for the desk mounted scissor arm stand and pop filter.

I'd suggest going with a USB Blue or Samson mic. Behringer probably has something good. Under $50 or better with a good sale.

Here's an example

These mics are just earbud mics inside a shockmount. They don't sound good. I'd recommend brands such as Rode, Blue, or Zoom, as they have a history in this realm and have similar setups under $100.

Edit: The Blue snowball is on sale for $40 here https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014PYG...RM6ZRFSBC2

No pro VO talent would be caught using one of these mics. Seriously. This thing is a toy.

Anyhoo- you'll still be able to use the pop filter when you upgrade to a Sony 800G, or a tube U47.

Good deal if you're a budding 12-year old rapper, have a Twitch channel with less than 20 subs, or you need to talk to your Diablo II buddies about Chaos runs.

Thanks for that well-thought-out reply.

Since I actually make money doing VOs I was just pointing out there's a LOT of people trying to do pro VO work and most of them use MUCH better equipment than this
But hey, it's your money, Sherlock. Good luck.
okay, want a cookie? lol nobody asked what you did, clearly stated what it was for, not a permanent thing yet you had to try to make it about yourself. It's $20, obvs it's not going to be a replacement for a $500+ microphone lmao do your thing tho, just no need to be so extra about a comment.
