little of both. Higher nits allows for a brighter screen, meaning you can use your laptop outside in sunlight or in a bright room and still see the screen. 250 nits is weak and you can't really, but it's standard in laptops because more costly to have a higher nits panel. Need atleast 400+ to comfortably use in bright environment. More so, higher nits means your HDR range is higher, your brights/whites can be brighter thus increasing your contrast (black to white ratio) which make images "pop" more, look better more pleasing to the eye. Once you've had a higher nit screen and see what's capable, how much better of an experience it is, 250 just doesn't cut it...
Right.

As it is I rarely ever set my screen to 100% brightness anyway.

I've been buying computer screens and laptops for decades and have never heard nits talked about so much as on this forum (especially the past few years). Reading the posts here it feels like 30-40% of the value of a laptop comes from how many nits it has.
Who games outside?

You should update this full spec in your original post as well. Man, this is a great deal IMO. Looks like you're keeping an Eagle's eye on Lenovo's new Legion series.

Yeah decent deal I think. I also posted another Legion 5 from Amazon with the same specs except 16gb RAM and 3050Ti for 1k. Looks like Lenovo is released these to retailers today.

Actually this is a common thing for Lenovo to release their AMD models to third party resellers before actually making them available to their official Website. Last year also, their Legion 5 was available in Amazon long back before they started offering in their Official site.

Strange, BH photo has a bunch of Lenovo AMDs on "pre-order" that aren't listed on Lenovo's site. Thinkbooks and Thinkpads. I wonder if that is there version of out of stock? Laptops & Notebooks | B&H Photo Video (bhphotovideo.com) [bhphotovideo.com]

This is almost the same spec as Dell G15 Ryzen edition, except the memory is only 8GB vs Dell's 16GB. Not sure how much max power is this 3060. The price is only $70 more than the deal Dell just had. Feel like worth it given the build quality of Legion in the past.

I've just made the purchase on Dell because of amex's 599-120 offer and 11% CB on Prime Day. Otherwise I would probably wait for this one.

Spec to spec that one is better, but Lenovo BQ is miles ahead. I have the G15 and the first thing I noticed when I unboxed it was the cheap plasticky build.

Ya, like I said, I would have been on this one. Now I feel that G15 is going below $1k soon...

Why do people here always talk/obsess about nits? Is it just some running joke/meme here or is there some good reason why nits are a big deal?
