I just got one for $385 at my Home Depot. They were cheaper last Black Friday but still a good deal.

From what I understand, many of these ultra-portable, compact 10" jobsite saws are quietly being discontinued and cleared out because there are new safety regulations related to the ratio of table surface area to blade diameter. Namely, apparently there is/was inadequate surface area around the blade to use it safely in some conditions, so those saws either have to increase table dimensions or decrease blade size.

A reference on another site pointed to the UL 62841-3-1 publication as the governing source of the change, although I can't seem to find a free copy or synopsis of that publication anywhere to confirm. There were multiple standards bodies and agencies quoted (probably incorrectly), however that was the only one that provided specific details. Whichever body governed that change, it's showing up across quite a few brands.
  • DeWalt quietly opted to reduce their jobsite model from a 10" blade to an 8-1/4″ blade to comply. This has the convenient effect of making it the same as their 120V jobsite model, which leads me to believe they probably adapted it to use some common parts.
  • Bosch seems to have simply increased the table size a few inches in both directions to meet the minimum requirements. The local Lowes near me had a display that was the smaller size and all of the boxed ones were the larger table.
  • Ryobi seems to be following the smaller blade path as well. The local HD here allegedly has more than a dozen 10" saws in stock, but there were none to be found on the floor, only 8-1/4" models.

This is interesting, I guess the real confirmation will be if the 10" folding stand model gets pulled because it has a significantly smaller work area.

I have this table saw, and bought it for about $350 or so back in March.

It's fine! I have a difficult time getting the blade square and I use other tools to measure than what's on the table itself, but all in all, it's a fine table saw.

I'd probably think it less fine if it cost $550.
