That review seems to be for the 4000W model, not the 8750w here. (go to 3 star reviews and it'll show you which model the review is for)

But this other review seems to imply that it's alright for home use with a transfer switch / interlock:

"I had an electrician put in an Eaton Double throw Transfer Switch that switches either Utility power (from Meter) or Generator power to my breaker box. The transfer switch is connected via 6 AWG to an SS2-50P generator inlet box. The generator cable I purchased had a 14-50 Plug at one end and a CS6364 connector at the other end to plug into the SS2-50P box. The 14-50 cable plug goes into an adapter that takes it to 14-30 which connects to the generator outlet. With Neutral bonded to ground in the Transfer switch, the Generator was set to Floating Neutral per video instructions from CPE. Instead of the Eaton switch you can always go with a generator interlock kit for your breaker box with a 2 pole 50 amp breaker for the 6 AWG coming from the SS2-50P wall outlet box"

There's a reason why that's a big code violation. Some people who don't believe they're idiots really are. If you do that without installing the required interlock kit and something goes wrong, good luck getting your insurance company to pay.

Was gonna to bite but recent reviews at THD and amazon for this unit indicates QC issues. Furthermore, Champion ships out parts for you to swap instead of sending a tech to repair (or you are expected to bring the 200+ lbs genny to a repair site). Good luck!

Sort of related-how much does an electrician charge to attach a generator to a house with a manual transfer switch? I got a quote for $660 in Austin and not sure if that's normal. I'm using the Tri-Fuel generator from Costco and so it's going to run on Natural Gas but Gas and Propane are backup options.

The 10,000 watts comment is not accurate-Costco Tri Fuel generator is 7500 watts (5500 on Natural gas) and has a 50 Amp-240 Volt outlet along with 1 30 Amp and two 20 Amp ones..

Good deal. I paid nearly as much for the model below it last year, the 6750.

The boiler in our home has a reputation for being picky about clean power and will shut down from high THD so I decided an inverter generator is a must. No point in buying a cheap Costco generator if it's not going to reliably power my heat & hot water system during a winter outage. It's happy with the Champion. We had an interlock installed on the panel with an inlet mounted outside.

What I wouldn't give for a quote that low. Seattle ish area I've been getting quotes in the 1200 buck range to add an interlock switch and wiring to a generator plug outside the house. That's with the generator plug in being literally on the other side of the breaker box.

That sounds like the right ballpark. I paid $600 for our interlock with the outdoor inlet and all the wiring installed in NJ. The electrician was someone we know and trust who has done work for us before.

For the NG conversion, does it need to run on gas first for the break in, or can it run on NG initially and always? Very much want to avoid gasoline and the headaches that come along with it due to long term storage and periodic use.

How about the changing to Floating Neutral on the GN8751 model please? was it easy to do ?

It's from US carburation and not sure what kit. If you email them tell them what you got they will tell you. They are a little pricey but If I could do It over again I would look for a tri fuel carburetor instead it's much cheaper
