Sam Harris? And the amount of data mining they are admitting to is pretty invasive too.

It would be a "deal" to those who, as the thread states, truly cannot afford it and, for that reason, we feel it deserves to be shared. It may be dishonest for someone who can afford the app to take advantage of the company's generosity. Let your conscience be your guide.

I've listened to the free introduction audio, and I really enjoyed it and wanted more. However never would I or could pay that amount for an app subscription. I'd say If the genre interests you, try the introductory audio, and decide from there what to do.

What about the people that buy .edu emails to get student deals? Do you bring your soapbox into those threads?

It's funny that we judge Sam because someone decides to post this.

Wasn't aware that was a thing, but thank you for alerting me to the fact that there are even more scumbags in the world than I thought there were 5 minutes ago. I was actually excited there might be a deal for the Waking Up App after I liked the free trial I did 6 months ago. Then I stumbled upon this non-deal.
I agree. The only thing worse than somebody that takes advantage of a deal not intended for them is someone that is full of shit.

This is not new, but has been offered for quite some time. I've paid for a subscription for 2 yearly cycles now and find it absolutely worth it for me. People work out their bodies all the time, but never work out their mind - paraphrase from Sam Harris. Helps me cope with and appreciate everyday life. Btw, he donates 10% of his pre-tax income (see his podcast/posts about "doing good") to the most impactful charities in the world.

Student discount is a kind of price discrimination that merchants use to extract every penny from all potential buyers. In economics class, your professor will teach you why merchants offer discounts to students. They do not do that out of kindness to students. They do that in order to maximize their profit because 20% profit margin is better that 0% in case a student cannot afford to buy a product with 50% margin.
