For the same $99 which one is better?
This RIDGID @ HD or the BOSCH @ Amazon:

Bosch GSB18V-490B12 18V EC Brushless 1/2 In. Hammer Drill/Driver Kit with (1) 2.0 Ah SlimPack Battery:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B085DTSG6F

The Bosch comes with only one battery, but seems to have more/better features than the RIDGID:

Bosch is a hammer drill: can drill through concrete etc.
Bosch has higher torque: 490 in/lbs vs. 425 in/lbs
Bosch has higher RPM: 0--600 + 0--1900 vs. 0--450 + 0--1750

The RIDGID is more compact than the BOSCH:
Height: RIDGID = 7.83", BOSCH = 8.1"
Length: RIDGID = 6.17", BOSCH = 7.44"

Bosch doesn't look like a compact if that's what you're looking for. Also if it matters, the Ridgid will have lifetime warranty on the tool and batteries.

This kit is backed by the Industry's Only Lifetime Service Agreement, simply register within 90 days of purchase for FREE Parts, FREE Service, For LIFE.

I'd buy this over the Bosch just for the Warranty, the extra battery is the added topping! Applause

You're kind of comparing apples to pears there. One is a subcompact drill (with small size comes less power and features), the other is a hammer drill (larger and heavier).

Subcompacts are really handy for the majority of what people do with drills, but if it doesn't have the oomph or features that you need, you'll have to go bigger.

And that second battery is really important for bigger jobs, because it allows you to keep working while the first battery is recharging.

Hey, great deal! I just bought this kit slightly less than a month ago when it was at $129. And since that was less than 30 days ago, I decided to give them a call to see if a price adjustment was possible. So I called them up (800-466-3337), and after a few minutes of voice menu surfing (uggh), I finally got to a human who set up a $30 price adjustment for me without a problem. Don't know what the time limit is, but if you have purchased this recently at the former $129 sale price, it's probably worth the effort to see if you can get a price adjustment, too.

What sold me on this vs Bosch or anything else is the Lifetime Service Agreement. As long as you jump through the hoops to register for it in time, and provide all the necessary evidence, this will repay itself many times over in the future just with replacement batteries. And when you get replacement batteries, you have to register those for the LSA, too (they are not auto-registered).

Not buying Ridgid anymore. My last purchase from Home Depot was registered with ridgid, and I jumped through all their hoops, uploaded receipts, input serial numbers, and they will not give me the LSA which is the deciding factor for going with Ridgid in the first place. I recommend going with better tools than getting the LSA bait and switch on inferior tools.

I just started to get into ryobi i have 3 tools and 2 4ah batteries so not deep at all and really thinking of switching to the ridgid line just for The LSA was thinking of FLEX from lowes but they are only giving them a lifetime warranty if you buy them before the end of the year so not worth it as i want to buy the tools as i go as i already have like 6 tools through hyper tough that have served me well.

There has to be more to the story. Did you buy a tool that qualified for the LSA? What was their reason for denial?

I have oodles of ridgid 18v gear. I've has 4 batteries replaced in 12 years with not so much as a fuss. Never needed a tool repaired.

Agreed. Have lots of Ridgid tool, been buying them for 10+ years with the LSA, and logging into their site now for service the serial numbers are no longer showing.

Live in a large city (3 million) and only one service center, 25 miles away.

Naturally. Why would I request something I wasn't entitled to? They gave me a 3-year warranty on battery kits with chargers. Their website says the battery with charger kits qualify for LSA. They also never return emails or calls. You've been warned.

They didn't provide a reason. Just slapped a 3-year warranty on what's supposed to be LSA and never returned my emails or calls. I'm not buying anything ridgid again. Average tools, LSA bait and switch, and nonexistent customer service. They lost a good customer here.

Thanks! I've been wanting another drill and the ones I have aren't compact. Plus I can always use more batteries. I only have 4ah's, been wanting a couple 2ah's for less weight at times.

Arent their new tools covered inder a 3 year warranty until the 3 years is over or something?
