You might be able to stack the 25% code which is generic from the Pet Trails game on the app. Only works in store. Never had a problem using it on anything in store. New to fish. My son would like a 20gal tank. (It will be stocked with the appropriate amount of fish depending on size a species that he chooses). Does this have everything we need to start?

At a minimum, you'll still need substrate/media, plants/decorations, fish food, tap water conditioner. All of that should end up costing only $20-50 extra bucks.

On the flip side, read on 'tank cycling', you need healthy bacteria in the tank before the fish can actually survive. The general ethos is that dropping fish into a brand new tank is going to quickly kill them. However, 2 years ago when I did that exact thing (buying new tank and new fish), my goldfish survived, so YMMV.

get some water from a pond nearby and mix it with regular water.

You can get some substrate and water from another tank to start the cycle but for me when I started out things took too long then tanked so I ended up buying ammonia, the one in stores for cleaning with no added scent etc. Just a little bit then some more and that did it for me.

Just bought a 10 gallon kit one from Petco over the weekend for the reduced price $38.

Includes filter and hood, but not the heater.

7 mollies, tetras and minnows. 4 survived, 3 perished (minnows were too tiny).

Water is too cloudy.. any suggestions? Quickest way to test water?

The best source of nitrifying bacteria is a filter sponge or media from an established tank. Live rocks, substrate,and plants too. Much more than there is in water.

You can also get some pure ammonia (Ace has some for cheap) and look up fishless tank cycling. You will need a test kit for this (to test for nitrates and other stuff) but you should probably get one anyways.

edit: getting filter sponge/media from an old established tank in most cases allows you to stock up your new tank right away. Fishless or regular tank cycling takes a few weeks as I recall (it's been a while)

Get a fresh water test kit or even simple test strips that you dip in your tank OR bring some water to your LFS (local fish store) and they will test your water for free.

The 3.5 gallon was delivered today and had a big crack in the middle of the back. They are giving me a refund but any way to fix it? Kind of happy I got a refund though, the quality isn't great.

Start by changing 1/2 of the water out. If you just got the tank, there's really no reason for cloudy water. Also do some research on 'tank cycling'. goodluck and definitely don't buy anymore fish until you get it sorted!
