So, The Secret of Monkey Island is a stone cold classic. The special edition is a little controversial among fans of the game, who think the new animations lack polish, but if you've never played it such concerns are academic - and you can switch to classic 256 color mode instantly (there's no EGA mode, but that's another story and mostly only an issue for hardcore fans).
