no roast date = trash
@MatthewS4171, coffee typically doesn't have an "expiration date." Dates like that are typically forced by grocery stores because they don't really want you to know how old a product is since coffee has a relatively short shelf life after roasting. You should look for a roast date if anything... otherwise the coffee is potentially months old. Even whole beans have lost a lot of their flavor within the first 2 months or so (or is it 1 month?), let alone pre-ground.
EDIT: Good source of info on coffee buying. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9YnLFr
Was either coffee high quality/specialty?
Were the flavor notes of each roughly equivalent/similar roast levels?
Was either coffee recently roasted? I.E. within the past month
How fresh was the ground coffee?
What brewing method was used for the coffee and was it brewed the same for both?
Was the grind level for both coffees proper for the brewing method mentioned above?
Taste is all subjective, just like many things... but I would be surprised if you could tell absolutely no difference from a store bought, mass produced coffee like Chock-ful-o-nuts brewed in a cheap $10 drip coffee maker from Walmart compared to a coffee made at a specialty cafe with thousands of dollars worth of high quality equipment.
For like $100-$200 towards a grinder (like a Baratza Encore or a nice hand grinder) + a specialty coffee (either a local roaster or something cheap like happy mug) + your favorite brew method... V60/french press/drip... you should notice a difference.
I can go into more detail/give more advice if you want, but Hoffman's youtube channel could in theory answer all of your questions if you are at all interested in bumping up your coffee game.
EDIT: I also want to mention when doing a comparison between two things... it helps to have them both in front of you for tasting. Have pre-ground coffee brewed in one cup and freshly ground specialty coffee in another. Try to keep the variables the same (similar grind size, brew methods... etc). Taste each and see if you can notice a difference. There is a nice cupping method that you can use that is easy and repeatable to reduce variables like a cheap/inconsistent drip coffee brewer.
Amazon could have upped the price as well when I looked vs them. In all fairness as well. People please post the price of better deals as Amazon is shifty with their dynamic pricing.
