These things are very unlikely to happen again. WF got hit with tons of fees and penalties and invested hefty in their risk compliance departments This whole thing sent a shockwave across the industry that also benefited banks' employees. Tellers don't need to aggressively cross sell bank product anymore.
Good all-rounder for those looking for a generalist card and better than Apple Card for merchants who don't take Apple Pay (there are a sizable bunch). Points are awarded monthly and with a $25 minimum for statement credit or check back (Direct Deposit isn't possible unless you have a bank account with them). Wells Fargo's latest pay with points option (I think inspired by Chase Pay Yourself Back) can get around this threshold - redemption is 1 cent to 1 point and points balance must cover the entire amount (no partial offsets). Cell Phone Protection is a good plus, few cards offer a higher rewards rate on top of this perk.
Another thing - Wells Fargo act funny if you pay too many times a month online (I think over 3 payments blocks you from making online payments for the rest of the statement period), but you can always pay over the automated phone system if you exceed this limit.
FNBO also has a 2% cash back Visa with a pre-qualification link. Might be helpful for those who don't have perfect credit and are unsure if they'll get approved. It even tells you the credit limit they'll pre-qualify you for. I got approved yesterday; it'll be my highest limit card so far.
I know too many people who have gotten screwed over by Wells Fargo. I'm sure the other banks are just as bad but I'll never do business with WF. Plus, 20% back on spend isn't that hot right now.

Is it when paying from an external account (form another bank) or even paying from another Wells Fargo account?
I have the Citi Double Cash card with 2% cash back. This looks to be exactly the same. Can anyone confirm that you can get 1:1 cashback for this card? Some cards will give you less if you want cashback like my Capitalone.

Citi DC you can take the rewards as thank you points, and combined with other citi cards get better than 1:1 value out of em....(quite a bit more if used for travel in some cases)

$185 million is nothing to a company the size of Wells Fargo. $75 BILLION in gross profits last fiscal year. Sure most of the scummy employees and managers got fired, but there is definitely a chance of it happening again.
Give it a few years. They get fined, "reform", and "change the culture" internally. But the same ideas/scams will find their way back, but tweaked enough to make even more money before getting caught and given a speeding ticket level fine.
TD because Wells Fargo is and always will be a shit company.
20% back if you don't have any other cards lined up. And it's WF, so you can probably charge exactly $2 per month and it'll be waived due to low balance, so another $24 per year.
Have 2 of their cards and that alone is $48 per year. Might consider adding this to my portfolio.
I dont think this card comes with benefits like the Wells Fargo Cash wise. This only has cell phone protection but no extended warranty nor price protection.
Yes, you can if you call their customer service line they can convert it for you. The downside is you won't get the $200 sign up bonus :-(
Last time I "converted" my 1% card to the 1.5% cash wise card they pulled a hard credit check even after stating they would not. Anyone check their credit report?
What's the best cashback credit card without foreign transaction fees?
Best at what?
Do you tend to spend in specific categories? If so even cards with FTF might be better than ones without.
Do you tend to spend a lot and also travel? If so well besides cash back being inferior to points, many paid cards are probably worth considering.
Do you have highest BoA status? If so their old cash travel card got you 2.625% on everything, has no annual fee, and no foreign transaction fees either- but the rewards can only be applied toward travel..... Their premium rewards card gets you 2.625% on everything as CASH back, and no FTF... it does have a $95 annual fee, but you get credits and other benefits that more than pay for that.
Saw this offer pop up in the news and was waiting for it to go live. Good deal with extra perks is a win for my bank account!
Yep, Wells Fargo has definitely had negative things going on in the past. However, if you stopped dealing with every company who had negative/media issues I'm not sure who you would be working with at this point?
I also have WF credit card so I'm not bashing on them..but opening account fraudulent without customer's consent isn't exactly on par with negative/media issues...
