These things are very unlikely to happen again. WF got hit with tons of fees and penalties and invested hefty in their risk compliance departments This whole thing sent a shockwave across the industry that also benefited banks' employees. Tellers don't need to aggressively cross sell bank product anymore.
Good all-rounder for those looking for a generalist card and better than Apple Card for merchants who don't take Apple Pay (there are a sizable bunch). Points are awarded monthly and with a $25 minimum for statement credit or check back (Direct Deposit isn't possible unless you have a bank account with them). Wells Fargo's latest pay with points option (I think inspired by Chase Pay Yourself Back) can get around this threshold - redemption is 1 cent to 1 point and points balance must cover the entire amount (no partial offsets). Cell Phone Protection is a good plus, few cards offer a higher rewards rate on top of this perk.
Another thing - Wells Fargo act funny if you pay too many times a month online (I think over 3 payments blocks you from making online payments for the rest of the statement period), but you can always pay over the automated phone system if you exceed this limit.
FNBO also has a 2% cash back Visa with a pre-qualification link. Might be helpful for those who don't have perfect credit and are unsure if they'll get approved. It even tells you the credit limit they'll pre-qualify you for. I got approved yesterday; it'll be my highest limit card so far.
Wouldn't closing the account prematurely results in negative credit points? My score is 780 and I have too many CC that I had applied with the past 12 months
Wells Fargo customers, the offer to customers via their web or mobile app does not offer $200 off first $1000, but this link does. Got it and it works. Using for almost every purchase.

I too would love to hear if anyone has been able to use this coverage.
From their application "This is supplemental coverage not otherwise covered by another insurance policy (for example, cell phone insurance programs, or your homeowner's, renter's, automobile, or employer's insurance policies) and may be applied after all other insurance is exhausted." https://www08.wellsfargomedia.com...nefits.pdf

Why, isn't this a better card that Citi Double Cash offering better benefits? Double Cash is only good for the 2% and doesn't offer other benefits.
I would not go with Citi. I had the Citi Double Cash and am looking to replace it. Their whole dispute process is a nightmare and they the contempt they show for their customers is gross. I filed a dispute and they make every effort to side with the merchant despite it being such an open and shut case. Literally took direct quotation of the merchant's policies and how it violated it along with other evidence and they denied it with no explanation. I finally talked to a banker in store who after an hour was able to get into contact with someone who said they would credit me the entire amount and then fraudulently changed my dispute amount to about 10% of the actual total. The entire back and forth process was unnecessarily stressful and difficult.
I just got my first statement. I've met the spending requirement for the $200 bonus. My rewards balance still shows 0 (the statement shows this, but says balance as of 1/31/22; the web site also shows 0 currently.) Is this normal?
You need to read again and make an accurate reply. To ACTUALLY redeem cash back to your account or as credit statement, the minimum claim is $25 and then in increments of $25 thereafter.
You're talking about the points earned from your purchases, yes that is shown at each monthly statement…like every cc in existence. It has nothing to do with claiming out your cash rewards.
That's a shame. I have the WF Propel Amex card which I do love.. but it has that $25 minimum redemption requirement, too. They really just need to get rid of it. None of my other credit cards have this requirement. You can do any redemption in any amount at any time.
I'm hoping what we get out of this deal is more upcoming, competing banks/credit cards offering flat 2% cash back offers.

are they seriously still in business? I thought they just opened up accounts for you anyways so you don't even need to sign up to bank on this deal...
smh...
Sorry Wells Fargo - but you still suffer from a lack of trust...
Open one account and get twelve free, without yoyr knowledge of course. As for naysayers that WF won't do it again, they have done it on a mass level twice that I can recall since 2008.
Why would you do this? Aren't you losing out on all the reward points?
They said "like a debit card", meaning they don't carry a balance on it by sending a payment for the amount charged on almost a daily basis. It's still a credit card and you get points/rewards, they just don't allow the charges to accumulate too much. Most people would probably wait until they get their bill to pay it off completely but this is another way of doing it to not have to pay interest on the charges.

It seems from the wording that you could be waiting 2 or 3 statement cycles.
