These things are very unlikely to happen again. WF got hit with tons of fees and penalties and invested hefty in their risk compliance departments This whole thing sent a shockwave across the industry that also benefited banks' employees. Tellers don't need to aggressively cross sell bank product anymore.
Good all-rounder for those looking for a generalist card and better than Apple Card for merchants who don't take Apple Pay (there are a sizable bunch). Points are awarded monthly and with a $25 minimum for statement credit or check back (Direct Deposit isn't possible unless you have a bank account with them). Wells Fargo's latest pay with points option (I think inspired by Chase Pay Yourself Back) can get around this threshold - redemption is 1 cent to 1 point and points balance must cover the entire amount (no partial offsets). Cell Phone Protection is a good plus, few cards offer a higher rewards rate on top of this perk.

Another thing - Wells Fargo act funny if you pay too many times a month online (I think over 3 payments blocks you from making online payments for the rest of the statement period), but you can always pay over the automated phone system if you exceed this limit.
FNBO also has a 2% cash back Visa with a pre-qualification link. Might be helpful for those who don't have perfect credit and are unsure if they'll get approved. It even tells you the credit limit they'll pre-qualify you for. I got approved yesterday; it'll be my highest limit card so far.

Wells in particular has been pretty awful in the repeated enduring customer fraud dept.

There's still good reasons to do business with the other 3 (esp in the realm of credit card signups and rewards)

While ymmv & everyone has their own experience, I find only amex & discover have decent service for credit card.
capital crap is the worst and useless overall.

I bank with the biggest local bank & credit union.
No amount of rewards would substitute my headache getting screwed by those big 4+ banks

I've got a lot of accounts, with a lot of banks (mostly credit cards)- it's very very rare I need "service" from anybody about anything though- and when I do it's generally... fine I guess?

You mentioned the big 4, I assumed you meant big 4 banks-- Cap One isn't among those (neither are amex or discover).

That's Chase, BoA, Citi, and Wells Fargo.

WF is the only one I don't deal with (they offer no services of any value over anyone else, and their cards mostly suck too)

Chase I've churned a bunch of credit cards and gotten a ton of value from them... customer service has never been a problem, generally I use their secure messaging system when I DO need something, and they resolve whatever it is in 24-48 hours which is plenty for any request I've had.

BoA I've also churned a decent # of cards, and having status there gets you into arguably the best cash-back reward system available (5.25% on multiple categories, and 2.625% on non-category spend)... Can't recall ever needing customer service for anything banking related in years with them (and I do actually use them for "real" banking-- originally because they had by far the most ATMs around- and now because there's simply been no reason to change away from them).

Citi-- I guess they're the "worst" of these- but with the changes they've made to cards in the last year or two also the least to offer with the fewest cards I care about anyway.

Still hanging on to my Prestige card as 4th night free alone pays for its fee plus the other perks it provides me-- and that has its own dedicated customer service line I've never had issue with.

I do have accounts at 2 credit unions--- but rarely have any use for anything they offer-- one account I only have as a legacy of a prior employer, and the other only because they had the cheapest new car loan available at the time.

As to Amex and Discover--- Amex service is fine again the rare times I've needed it... I've churned through nearly all their cards by now though so given the once-per-lifetime language I rarely deal much with them other than to transfer points, or on the rare occasional a no-lifetime-language signup comes along or they offer a new card.

Discover we do technically have use, but it's not useful for anything other than when they do warehouse clubs as a 5% category and we buy the max amount of Costco gift cards with it.

As a Wells Fargo employee, it's crazy the amount of training we have to go thru now. The employees who were here during the chaos of 2016 tell me the amount of scrutiny and inspection that we go through now is way more than before. Every customer has to sign a document every time a change is made to their account or for any added service. Customers need to be verified with 2 IDs and entered into the system just to do something so simple like replace a debit card now.

Got this in the mail, was approved, but then they had onerous requirements to prove I was really me. I ended up not being able to gather these so took a hard pull on my file for nothing. I've gotten many cards over the years and never, ever had this BS. In fact nothing has required the level of proof they needed.

What requirements? I was thinking about it but might not be worth the hassle. Also do you use a VPN? I've noticed lots of places treat anyone using a VPN like a criminal automatically.. Really shitty moves, obviously targeting people to hope they can still track you everywhere

To be fair, most of bank employees are just following orders.
The crooked execs and stupid systems that screw the customers the most

I have been banking with them for over 10 years and they have only done my wrong one time 10 years ago. I haven't been charged random fees for having a banking account with them since. I know people who they have screwed over and I always wonder if I'll be next so I've searched around the different banks and as of right now, Wells Fargo unfortunately is the only bank that won't charge me a monthly fee for the financial situation I'm in

I am happy for your situation.
And YMMV…. But in general, more people got screwed than got helped, even to this date

It's usually instant, about 60 seconds or less...Unless there is an issue or they need to verify something from your application. Some have mentioned that they needed to provide some requested documentation I believe.

Got it 2 months ago... I use this for utilities and stuff like that where the Chase/BofA/Prime doesn't have high cash back coverage...
Wells fargo is weird.. they don't allow you to may multiple times before your due date... I usually like to keep balance low but wells fargo doesn't allow payment... you need to pay by phone.
I wouldn't have gotten it if i knew that

also my 500 dll payment to online progressive didn't go through... weird..
Not the best card that is for sure.

Just in time for my vacations trip. It arrived and paid the Airbnb with this. 15 months no interest + $200 after $1,000 spent. This is a great deal
