Pretty terrible reviews when you filter down to that specific model.

I'm in need of a new spreader, but I'll skip this one and keep looking.

absolutely no reason anyone with a small, or medium-sized lawn owner need to drop $70 on a freakin spreader. If you already cut your own grass with a walking mower, spreader of any size works just fine.

I have a smaller scotts spreader I bought for $30. For just a handful of times a year I use it, it serves it purpose well.

You're right I shouldn't have posted it. Definitely a luxury item. I'm going to continue to use my small scotts spreader to do my yard. What was I thinking! Anyway, back to my beans and rice...

I have one of these and I've been very happy with it. Only thing that doesn't work is the phone holder... Which realistically is a dumb thing to celebrate on a seed spreader in terms of features. Only downside to the elite is the fact that nearly all yard chemicals you would spread do not list the elite. Even Scotts own branded stuff. So you either trial-and-error or look it up on the website. Now some purists will say you should be calibrating your spreader Independent of manufacturer specs, but I'm all set not doing that. I paid full price maybe three months ago. If I had to replace it, at this price I would absolutely do it. If I had to pay full price I'd probably go higher and get something else.

Why so expensive, does it come with a battery and you control it from your phone with an app?

Ever thought that maybe, just maybe, he thought his comment could have been useful in the event a first time home owner clicked on this thread wondering what kind of yard this may have been good for? No? Just gonna be a smartass instead? Cool cool

Yes it does. Also connects to your smart home hub to create routines when you are away.

I'd recommend anyone to look for a used Lesco, Spyker or Earthway spreader in great condition on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace for $70 or even less. You would get a much better, more functional spreader that will do a better job and last longer than this Scotts one.

I bought a spreader for $5 at a garage sale.

Yes, but is yours labeled "Elite"?
You won't find this one at Big Lots!

I have one of these and it's complete garbage. You're better off buying the cheap one, or if you're looking for something more substantial picking up a used pro spreader with rebuildable parts (Lesco, Andersen,Spyker, etc.)
