Thanks for posting this excellent deal. The last time I saw it at this exact price of $63.99 from Bed Bath & Beyond was on 12/30/2020. I told a friend about it - he had tried a similar Zwilling chef's knife at my house [bedbathandbeyond.com] and loved it - and it's by far his favorite knife.

I've tried sub-$100 chef's knives by Victorinox, Mercer, and Wusthof, and none of them are even close to this Zwilling. (Just for kicks, I've also tried $150 to $300 knives by newer brands like Dalstrong that have excellent customer reviews, and they're inferior.) I really do think there isn't a chef's knife under $100 that's better for the typical home chef.

Take care,

If you have a $20 off $80 coupon, you can add a filler item to bring this slightly lower.

i.e. - I added $0.75 baking soda, which after coupon, came to $60.98 for everything.

Got the 20% off coupon by email sign up and made a purchase. The coupon seems for 1st time sign up only. In future, how to get another 20% off, except for use a different email address?

Good price on great knives. I actually like these more, and find myself using them more, than my Wusthof Classics. I kinda wish the pairing knife was a 3.5" instead of a 4", but still a great core set that you can add a special knife or two onto later if you find a specific need.

The handles are different, and I definitely prefer the straight, non-curved handles of the 2-piece set. Plus sets are usually a waste of money, since most people rarely use all of the pieces included. It's often better to start with a chef knife and pairing knife, then add if you find a specific need.

Now that I looked at it, it seems as if the five star would have less grip due not the limited handle design in the rear. I wonder why they would do that and call it five star.

The straight vs. curved handles is a preference, but I definitely have the same preference as you. And I generally agree that sets are a waste unless an excellent deal is available; I generally build my own sets, with chef's knives and paring knives as the main pieces.

This is basically to say I'd like to second your suggestions!

Didn't know I was going to buy new knives today.

I primarily use a Dragon Fusion santoku-ish knife but have lately been thinking about adding a good chefs knife. I've got a Victorinox but it just doesn't feel as nice to use. I've also been thinking about getting a pairing knife for smaller tasks but I doubt I would have gotten one with nice steel. This set is perfect so I'm mega excited. I hope I like the feel of these.

Hi, could someone comment on whether this 8" knife is better than the J. A. Henckel's International Classic Chef Knife(8") ? Saw a deal on Macy's.

Better. "International" is one of their budget lines.

Zwilling's International line is their budget line and is licensed out. If you're looking at Zwilling products, the fastest and easiest way to tell whether they're the higher-quality main Zwilling line or they're of a lower-quality is to look at the logo: the Twin logo is superior to the Solo logo. More info: https://blog.kitchenstuffplus.com...-zwilling/

I hope this helps,
