Isn't this a crazy deal? Or is this like so so? 5.39lbs doesn't sound too bad either, how bad is the fan noise/heat on these?

I'm kind of a noob when it comes to modern specs (haven't dealt with them much since I built a comp in 2004). So I have a few easy questions I'm hoping someone can help with:

1) Does the screen operate at 165hz in the OS too or just in games? My cell phone has a 120hz screen and I love it compared to 60hz. Not sure if that would just work in games though.

2) I'm probably going to use this for mostly Netflix/Hulu/etc with some light gaming (Civ V, AOE 2 etc) but may try some newer games since the graphics card is good. I have an xbox series X though so will mostly game on that. So with that being said, is this laptop absurdly overpowered for that? Like am I going to have it sitting in my lap for Netflix and be like "wtf did I get this giant heavy laptop for Netflix..."

1) That's the refresh rate which will be constantly on assuming it's set to that. With 144hz monitors I know you have to actually switch the setting from 60 to 144hz so I am not sure what this laptop defaults to.

2) The laptop is definitely overkill for Netflix but if you plan on gaming this is a good card to give you good performance. I don't put a laptop on my lap so that's for you to decide.

Thanks for the reply. So if I run it at the 165hz refresh rate I can expect to get the super smooth motion and stuff like I see on my phone?

Yes you should. The screen has that refresh rate.

Is it your second pm or the first one?
My issue was when the price dropped to $1199 about a week ago, I did price adjustment once. Now their system does not allow further pm/credit anymore
First time. Sorry, I didn't realize you already had a price match.

The SSD is also half the size. Is that actually worth it for the better build quality? I am not familiar with either model.
I have the same question..any inputs on this would be helpful

I know one video review was already posted, but for those wanting a pretty thorough review of the slightly less-spec'd-out version of this, I wanted this earlier today and thought it did a great job covering almost everything I wanted to know.

EDIT - turns out this was the same video, but I'll leave this here because people keep asking questions that were answered here (upgradability, etc).

115 watts version. Just look at the size. If it is heavier than 5 lbs, it's usually the max-p version. It's the skinny light one that's usually max-q.
If you enable high performance by pressing the "G" button, the wattage is bumped to 125

Thanks for the deal OP. I just bought another Dell G15 R5 to expand my NiceHash farming. (snip). Currently getting 47.52 MH/s on my first one...(snip).
Thanks for the post!
How loud are the fans while mining? Can it sit next to you while watching TV or does it need to be in another room because it is so loud?

And final question. Knowing this laptop, would you pay the extra $100 for the Alienware m15 version?

I have an Alienware M15 R4. Construction is premium, mechanical keyboard, better screen, vapor chamber and mux switch.

I ordered mine in the last deal and it's still under production. They are saying they can do price adjustment only after it's shipped. They asked me to call back after it is shipped.
