I got the AW3418 for a nudge under 600 with cashback included a couple years ago, and the 3420 for a bit under 800, don't regret either purchase, love both to death (one for work, one for gaming).
A lot of reviewers didn't even think the AW3420 was much of an upgrade over the AW3418. I'd reckon these monitors aren't really made for people who saw it like that. Colors on the AW3420 were night and day better and so were blacks. It's also native 120 (144hz display limited by g-sync gen 1 module to 120hz), where the 3418 was 100hz and could overclock to 120hz, but not every model did (mine did however).
Been waiting for this to go on sale again, and while it may go down lower, with inflation hitting, unless it's some crazy price mistake, it probably won't go much below 900 in the immediate future, so I'm okay with that.
Looking forward to the extra vertical real estate for sure. Once you go ultrawide, you don't go back.
I think I'll hold out for 42" OLED LG TV supposedly coming out this year.
But this is a nice offering, I have the 34" model AW3418DW from a couple years ago and love it.

Wow, but that was for the older 34 right? The AW3418, not the AW3420. (2018 vs 2020)
