A couple other questions to consider, what are your expectations and what is your preferred listening level.

If I remember correctly the Alphas can handle a good amount of bass and fairly well.
They do like more power if I recall correctly also.

For the genres you mentioned, depending on your expectations & unless you listen at very high levels I'm not sure a sub(let alone two) will add much for the money(especially for 2 subs).

For movies it's a different story and for that size room, I'm guessing it's a large seating area(s) two subs would help with that.

Not that video specifically, but I had watched another video of his where he said something to the effect of he's pretty much done with buying subwoofers because the S3612s provide all that he is looking for and doesn't need any more bass. I know he had SVS SB16s before and I forget which ones prior to those. I've seen other comments confirming that S3612 owners were blown away by the difference compared to the top SVS subs.

Edit: Forgot to mention that the PSA S3612 has TWO 18" drivers while SVS PB16 has one 16" driver. Price of the S3612 is $2,650 while PB16 is $2,500. S3612 seems to be a much better value.

Well having heard both it depends who you ask which is "better" based on their preference and expectations.

In rudimentary terms:
If your main priority is shear excursion then definitely the S3612 is the "better" choice.
Now if the main priority was accurate, detailed sound the Ultra would be the "better" choice.

If you have the room get 2 smaller subs and spread it out. I have one sub in the corner for over 10 years and it bugs me that my bass hits one ear first then the other. Milliseconds but noticeable.
