Look up box fan mosquito trap for a low cost, highly effective way to rid your indoors of mosquitos. Having a few nearby outdoors would be better than one of these zappers, but bug spray seems to unfortunately be my best bet down here in swampland.

I owned one a few years ago. I live next to a massive swamp/marsh. All it did was kill off bugs that bats and other evening creatures eat. I wouldn't call them useful bugs to me, but useful food sources to the frogs, bats and other creatures that keep the ecosystem going. I needed one because the massive number of bugs covering my windows and some finding ways to get in. Used a 100 foot extension cord away from the house. Next morning the entire bug zapper was caked with fried winged bugs and and a big pile on the ground. I didn't see any mosquitos. Blew it out with a air compressor every morning. Ended up giving it away after a month. Mosquitos in my area were still an issue.
They really need to make a unit that does not use these dark lights. An electrified screen the size of a door, ideally. Using Octanol mosquito attractant (there are other types as well) and fly feremones during the day. Can't use CO2 propane attractant due to explosive conditions, but CO2 absolutely attracts certain breeds quickly. Deerflies and horseflies are another issue I wish could be solved.
