This is pretty common for all mowers. 16 inches refers to the deck width. The cutting width however, refers to the blade length. The blade has to fit inside the deck, so it is slightly shorter...in this case by a half an inch on each side.

FWIW I've had this mower for going on four seasons and haven't had any problems with it. Still holds a good charge. It is a smaller mower with a smaller bag. It takes me about 30-45 min to do my whole yard (with 2-3 bag dumps) and the battery still lasts. I'll upgrade to an EGO whenever this one craps out.

This is similar to what I paid for it and I've more than gotten my money's worth. If you're looking to try an electric mower, it's a good entry level option.

While this is a good deal, Snowjoe (including this Sunjoe) products are hit or miss as far as quality control and durability.

Silly question:
Why is it a 16-inch mower if it "Mows a 15 in. (38 cm) wide path in one pass"?

At this size, it wouldnt be remotely appropriate for anything else but a small yard. Otherwise it will be a pain to mow.

Agree as well, I have a corded model of this mower and 2 wheels have fallen off, the blade constantly comes loose and if you bump anything the blade hits the deck.

Correct, my parents have a 16" B&D because they have about 4' of grass on either side of their house, and about 15' in the back. Too many obstacles to mess with a cord.

I want to say this is a niche, but that's pretty much all new construction in most of the US these days. Cranking up a gas mower for that little would seem silly. Maybe a big weed eater…

However, for a small yard, this is much easier to use than something that's heavy and takes a lot of effort to maneuver. The big self-propelled mowers don't make up in the straightaways what they give up in the corners.

OK, so what you're saying is that if I somehow am able to wear a 16 inch deck, I can advertise that my, um, "blade length" is 16 inches, even though it may not really be that long?
Applause
No.

If it's clearly say "blade length" or "cutting width", both are referring to the blade.

Notice this only say 16". It didn't state that is the deck width, which likely is the deck. It's super small and they are trying to make it seem a bit bigger. laugh out loud

16" is tiny and will take forever to mow. Might as well use a weed wacker for it's flexibility.

Own two corded Sunjoe mowers, MJ304E, for my former rental and home and both have been beat to crap with cutting thick branches too, pine cones, grass, and both still working fine. One is 8 yo, other is 5 and get used ever 2/3 weeks. Got a power washer as a gift and no issues. Had two battery mowers (Worx, Ego) and returned those gutless mowers the same day. Sunjoe has been great for me.

I bought this recently. It's not very powerful and most of their cordless stuff is moving towards a different battery tech it looks like. I paid $200 - wish I had gone Ryobi or something instead for compatibility with more devices.
