My sub expired yesterday, verified it and everything, tried to launch a game, etc. Said it wasn't expired.
Bought 3x 12 month codes and tried to upgrade to Ultimate for $14.99, it is giving me an error and saying it cannot be done.
A simple more sure fire solution: When your GPU expires, create or use another account (that's only ever been silver) on your console. Redeem the 12 month card. Convert to GPU for $1. Any gamertag on the Xbox will be able to play your GPU games.
Additionally you can get a 13th month if you redeem on the Xbox website and agree to turn on automatic billing. As far as I know, to take advantage of that offer you have to have a payment method on file or at least $14.99 in ur account so that they're eligible to auto bill you for at least 1 month - which wouldn't occur until 1,2, or 3 years later depending on how many cards you purchased. That leaves plenty of time to turn auto billing off, which you can do immediately after converting to GPU for $1. At the very least no one should be paying more than $50.99 a year for 12 months of GPU.

Some caveats: if you're a Microsoft Rewards user, this is not the way to go as your Rewards account won't be able to do Game Pass quests as a secondary account. Same thing with any (Ultimate) GP perks that may tie directly to your account. If a perk is a code, you can give it to any account. There's probably some other scenarios I'm not thinking of, yes of course it would work but just be mindful it's not always the best solution.
As far as the bonus month, I've been reading they haven't been offering that lately, it was always YMMV and not to mention if you're trying to stack up to the 36 month max the bonus month can trip you up, so be mindful of that.
Best way to go is stack the 36 months then upgrade while they're having a $1/3mo deal, that ends up going over the limit to 38 months (and I've said this a million times, I wish they'd get rid of the 36 month cap, it's pointless).
I got 3 years of GP Ultimate, so yes, quite the deal!
you can transfer 3 years of live = 1 yr of game pass. To get 3 years of game pass = $450 with this deal. Regular gamepass ultimate is $15. 15x36 = 540. Saving ~ $90. If you were going with PC only gamepass this deal sucks. This = for a year of gamepass at $12.50 a month vs $15.00

I can see you only have 2 posts here but just so you know, your math is wrong.
You can stack 36 months of Gold for $150 then upgrade to Ultimate for $1 and it'll convert your sub time 1:1 provided you do not have an active Ultimate subscription. If the $1 for 3 month deal is still going, it'll give you 38 months of total sub time, so roughly $4/month.
My XBOX ultimate already expired..so what would be the best thing to do..buy 2 yrs of xbox gold 12 month subscription..buy another 14.99 1 month of ultimate and it would convert the whole thing to ultimate..not sure how it works want to be sure before buying..I guess 50 bucks for 1 yr is the best deal I will get right now?

Fastest way to get your digital code is just go to your order history on your newegg account.

It's silly because in the first few hours it was 40, then they upped the price after everyone jumped on it
