Typically, there's a 5% fee for transferring your balance to a 0% interest card. So $4,000 * 5% = $200 (if you're transferring the full balance required to earn the sign up bonus). You may see some offers for less than 5%, so it may be worth looking into. I've seen some of my cards offer 0%, 2%, and 3% fees in the past.

And transferring your balance should not affect your earning the sign up bonus on this Citi Premier card offer.

Thanks, yeah I found out the card I was looking at was 3%, which is $120 on $4k. Don't want to give up that much of the bonus unless absolutely necessary, so probably wont do it.

There is one option, however, which is a credit card through the Navy Federal Credit Union. Apparently that's one of the only cards that has no annual fee, 0% intro balance transfer, and 0 balance transfer fees. All other cards look like 3% is the minimum fee. Not sure how strict they are on qualifications, but this might be an option for military or prior military.

How long will it take for 80000 points been credit to thankyou account after meeting $4000 spend? Mine has been 2 weeks since that and even though it shows 80000 points earned but still not show up in thankyou account yet.
You have to wait for the statement after you've met the $4k spend. At least, that's when my 80k points showed up in my thankyou account.

I need a new card for a furnace/AC purchase. Going to be around 11K, might not put it all on a card. Looking for 0% for as long as possible, but it would be nice to get some bonus or cash back. Thinking about Citi cash back cards (maybe not this one some there is the annual fee and no 0%)

There is the other Citi one that gets you $300 but the rotating categories I don't see using.
5
Then there is the Wells Fargo with 2% back on everything and $200 bonus. 0% for 15 months.

Thinking about Wells. Any cards I am missing?

May I ask what you did with your points? It seems like the only way to get value that's anything near cash equivalent is through gift cards. You can't actually pull cash out or statement credits, or can you?
You can cash out - statement credit 100% value

Awesome--good to know. I'll have to snag this deal it's still around next year. Just applied for a 2.5% 20 year refi so no inquiries until I close.

Is it confirmed that this bonus can be redeemed for $800, either as cash back, or as a statement credit? I seem to recall reading that those types of redemptions were less than 1 cent/point in the past.
Yes, it is confirmed/

What if you make enough purchases to hit the SUB, then transfer the balance to a card with 0% interest? Are there fees associated with doing that, and will it affect the Citi SUB in any way?

Edit: I've been told it probably wouldn't affect the SUB, but there is a balance transfer fee that the other card charges, which is usually 3-5%. Not sure if I want to give up that much of the bonus, if I dont absolutely have to. Was just wondering about ways to pay it off slower than in 1 month, to avoid interest charges.

This is exactly what I did. Made all my purchases, received the cash back and sent it back to my bank. Thanks for the $800 on things I was already going to purchase.

Then took the 4K and balance transferred it to a new discover card. Had to pay 3% so $120. Now have 0% for 18 months on it.

Still netted a free $680 on things I was going to buy anyway, and can just pay it off at my leisure.

For anyone rejected try calling 6053311698.. option #2

it's their executive reconsideration line and the highest level of customer service you'll reach

If you hit #1 you'll get normal reconsideration line that uses algorithms to determine approval. #2 will get you a human and what worked for me is to ask them for a lower credit limit and I was approved after re-evaluation and fixing an inacuracy in the credit report they pulled (CFPB complaints are amazing at getting these issues resolved quickly)

Cool, thanks for the info. How did the annual fee factor into it? Did they charge it and refund it, or had they not charged it yet?

This company is garbage. Missed my bonus spend by $30 due to miscalculating annual fee. Contacted several agents that were foreign. They did nothing for me and were rude (so I closed card immediately). Stick with Chase or other reputable banks. I hope Citicards goes bankrupt! Do not do business with this company!

Are you of the opinion that Chase or other reputable banks would've given you the sign up bonus even though you didn't meet the spending requirement? Methinks not.
