The reason why this build is so cheap is because Dell cheapened out on using a basic CPU stock cooler and one chassis fan. Dell's BIOS locks the CPU's turbo boost power time window to a maximum of 20 seconds and relies on CPU thermal throttling to prevent overheating.
20 secs is enough for most tasks.

How does this compare to the Alienware Aurora FP deal posted earlier today?
I ordered that today with 512GB SSD but am tempted by this deal due to the i7 vs i5 and less chances of any customization with the Alienware config (this one can probably accommodate a different CPU cooler). I plan on using primarily for MS Flight Sim in VR (Oculus Quest 2).
Thoughts?

But the i7-11700 will thermal throttle when gaming due to the inadequate CPU stock cooler. When using the easier to cool i7-10700 the Dell XPS hits 93°C and thermal throttles to 3.9 GHz in Battlefield V according to Dawid Does Tech Stuff.

Therefore, for work or study this PC should be fine but if you want to use this PC for gaming, you will have to upgrade the CPU stock cooler.

This Dell system would be a great fit, for home, office, students, coders, CAD, miners, video editors, graphic designers, and even casual gamers. Pretty much everyone except hardcore PC gamer enthusiast that like to build and maintain their own high-end $2000+ systems.

We have 3 of the G5 systems reviewed in that Gamers Nexus video. Ours have GTX1660 graphics cards, 500w PS, 16GB ram, and a clean install of Windows 10. All are performing very well and we have not seen any heat or performance issues. My kids play the newest games on them daily (Doom Eternal, Call of Duty Modern Warfare, Madden, HOI4, ect.) While simultaneously having YouTube open, a couple web pages, and messenger programs. I feel as though the build quality was quite good for the price I paid. I could not be more satisfied with our purchase.

If you are just an normal person (like 98% of the population) that wants to get a good deal on a good PC that will probably never be opened, and the only real maintenance you do is reinstall Windows ever couple of years to clean the system up. Then this system is perfect for you.
Even for regular use thermals are bad out of the box. Spend $30-$40 to upgrade thermals and you will get a decent machine from this deal.

I just order one. Specs on my order show GPU is actually a NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) RTX 2060 SUPER(TM) 8GB GDDR6 (not 6GB)
I ordered same deal a week ago, its in transit, the packin slip shows exact same video card.

I just want a decent pc for daily use, programming etc and iGPU should be enough, so was planning to sell the gfx card. But these comments about prices going down are concerning. In my area on craigslist the price is <500, I don't know who's selling these for 700?

AMD 5000 series with iGPU is still oem only, and rocket lake is not really that much better than prev gen, for that we have to wait till Alder Lake. But right now due to chip shortages its hard to build a similar pc for less, right?

I purchased it with the 3% financing rebate this afternoon (paid rather than finance) and immediately after purchase Rak10 said the 10% offer would not apply due to use of a coupon code (wish it would have said something before). Interestingly I do see that the cash back is pending on their site with a comment that it will be processed by 7/23. I suspect I wont get the 10%, but I am not sure if that's due to the dell rewards or the fact this deal is created by a coupon.

Simpleton question but if I pulled the video card out for resale this wouldn't I need to buy a new one? Would that not void the warranty?

This looks like a great deal when compared to price of individual components. Am I wrong about this?

Nobody should really buy this because of the 2060 super GPU. We've fairly often had similarly priced machines coming with 3070's so just hold out for those.

I believe this same model was on sale last week at the same price and sold out quickly. Everyone seems to be chasing computers 3060/70/80 graphics cards, if you have no need for it, or are okay upgrading later I think this is a great deal. One downfall is the power supply seems to be specific to the case, so if you wanted to make a ton of upgrades which required more power you would likely need a new case as well.

I ended up checking out with PayPal using discover card which can get extra 5% cb, so 3% dell reward, 10% rak10 make it a even greater deal.
