Here are my experiences with the phone so far.
Battery is ok, not amazing, gets about 5 hours of screen time on both xl and non xl version.
Camera is amazing for still photos, video is sometimes choppy if you turn image stabilization on or if you record in high efficiency format h265. This is for both xl and non xl.
Verizon version does not have esim support. If you need esim, don't buy the Verizon version.
While the pixel 3 cpu 845 is still pretty fast, but the 4gb of ram is only barely enough, wish it was 6gb.
I personally prefer the smaller non xl version after using both for a couple of weeks.

These phones are never "fixed" because the defects are so difficult to address. Could be a problem with the FP reader, antennas, the chips, the flash storage, a whole host of deeply embedded nebulous problems that can't be resolved by just slapping on a new display or changing the battery which is what most cell-phone repair shops specialize in. So they just recycle them through the secondary market hoping the eventual buyer does not discover each unit's flaws or they end up in the Emerging Market economies at deep discount.
It seems contradictory but with used phones buyers are probably better off buying a scuffed one in fair condition because that would indicate that the device wasn't a lemon and was previous user got a lot of use out of it.
