Magnesium oxide is one of the worst forms of magnesium in terms of absorption. Calcium absorption also requires vitamin k and one other mineral to properly absorb into the bones or it will deposit into the soft tissues, i.e., heart. One of the best indicators of likelihood of a heart attack is the amount of calcium build up in the heart.

I'd heard about needing K2, but what other mineral?

1. MAGNESIUM CITRATE

Everybody should be supplementing with magnesium as most everyone is deficient. As noted absorption rate of mg oxide is very low, like <5%

If you are looking to be economical you can find magnesium (and many other vitamins and minerals) in pure powder form online. Most pills are mixed with other filler ingredients (just take a look at the labels). I personally take mg chloride throughout the day and mg glycinate before bed.

Yes, oxides are terrible for absorption 100% agree. You don't pee it out if not absorbed though. The absorption issue is in the gut so you end up pooping it out.

I had a coronary calcium scan of my heart in my mid/late 40s. It revealed calcium buildup in my coronary artery with a score of 400. Still have time to stop and possibly reverse coronary artery disease. I suggest anyone with a family history or yourself current/past had issues with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and/or diabetes to get this scan.
