I'm curious: has anyone received the offer that has eBay bucks available from last quarter's eBay bucks certificate? Now that eBay bucks don't expire for a year, I wonder if this will be a new variable to take into account.
That sounds right. I think you earn them only during promos. Honestly, while eBay is still a great place to find obscure things and collectibles, the whole ecosystem there is so much less seller and especially buyer friendly than it used to be. I remember when 8% or 10% eBay bucks, plus an extra 1% for using PayPal, and no sales tax, was the norm.
eBay has been completely eclipsed by Amazon for anything new
The Slide app has 5% off on eBay all the time and the cash back doesn't expire. I started using them for every purchase. eBay bucks only worth it if they bring 10% back which will be exceedingly rare.
Since the pandemic created a huge surged interest in the collectibles market, eBay decided to remove the eBay bucks incentive on regular purchases since sales were strong.
Now that the collectibles market is about to burst, I'm really hoping the greedy executives who made this decision get screwed over in declining sales.

I have ebay bucks available from last quarter and received/activated this offer. Though I will only buy if it is a deal, most items on ebay are not a deal after tax and shipping
No go on four different accounts. Boo. Most Ebay bucks offers are targeted. BTW note that the OP tagged it as YMMV before you downvote. Not their fault they didn't originally tag it YMMV. You don't know if it's YMMV until other people tell you they don't have it. This must have been a pretty targeted one.

Sad but true. Ebay was a great option for a while. The sales tax on everything really killed it. What's ridiculous is most the sales tax collected shouldn't be. Most states exempt things you sell used after buying them new. Only resellers should be targeted. But now everyone loses of course. I have to resort to Facebook Marketplace to buy/sell stuff. ughhhh

Oddly I think that even applies to chinese junk too. Seems like a lot of chinese sellers would rather offer their products via prime for less money than on ebay. Even aliexpress prices arent what they used to be for a lot of goods. I dont understand the logic behind this, maybe they are willing to take lower income on Amazon to try and build up reviews, and then raise prices? And ive stopped selling on ebay since they forced people to link their bank accounts instead of paypal, I wasnt doing anything shady, I just dont want to give ebay my bank account number, I wouldnt give it to Amazon either.

or did they stop offering 1% for everything?
I didn't earn anything for what I purchased recently.
