I'm generally a Costco guy but Sam's has another option going live on Wednesday.

https://www.samsclub.com/p/samsun...=980261996

Will be $300 off for $1197.99 with 3 yr off warranty shown and 6% cash rewards for plus members. Valid July 14-Aug 8, or while supplies last I expect.

The RTINGS review is for a 65" IPS panel, so it does not apply here. This 82" version has a VA panel that RTINGS did not review. The 6.6 score on RTINGS is due mainly to mediocre MOVIE scores based on the IPS panel's inferior contrast ratio. If reviewed, the movie scores of the 82" would be better with the VA panel's higher contrast ratio.

EDIT: A lot of useful info in this prior expired thread...

When I saw this LG in the store last year, IMO, PQ looked similar to the 2019 Samsung 82ru8000 / 2020 Samsung 82Q60 (at least one step above the TU7000 Series). The LG also has a native 120Hz panel with quicker response time, supports HDMI 2.1 features, and removes 24p judder from any source. Since RTINGS only reviewed the IPS version of the UN8500 Series, I've attached the only review-type info I could find specific to the VA Panel. Video is for this TV (LG UN 85 series VA Panel) just the model no. in the video is for Europe.

Would this TV and the Sam's Club Samsung also in this thread automatically be better than the 2016 Samsung KS8000? Asking bc that's what I have and unsure if 5 years of progress have automatically outpaced what was a top LED TV in '16.

I think the KS8000 will still display a better HDR picture. These new lower end models are not very good at HDR. I still use my 55KS8000 and it has a pretty good HDR picture. Doesn't compare to my LG C9, but good for what it is.
