How much faster is EMMC over SSD?
eMMC is slower than SSDs. It's cheap memory, which is why manufacturers use it on inexpensive devices.

No, if it has EMMC you are out of luck.
Is the motherboard different for the i3?

It is possible to change and upgrade the SSD on the 713:

You might be able to add a SSD to the i3 version.

Can 100% confirm you can NOT upgrade anything internally with this specific variant, the emmc storage is soldered onto the board, there is also no second storage slot to add an additional SSD. This is the entry level variant for this model so nothing internally, RAM & storage included, can be altered.

One of the reviews says this was $249.99 before? Can anyone confirm?

I don't think so.I got it at $329 and am happy with it.

It is slow to wake up though. Screen comes on quickly, but it is unresponsive for around 10secs. Might be to do with the EMMC?

Really tempted to purchase a higher end Chromebook since it's all I use these days but I already have way to many.

Been using 2 of the last year i5/8g model and really liking them. The screen is amazing and I'm glad Acer didn't change it on their newer replacement models. Highly recommend!

Looking for a new chromebook 90% will be for media viewing and occasional google drive thoughts on this vs the Lenovo flex 5 at Costco? I guess the 2k is nice but not if drains battery

I don't think so. The msrp that review mentioned was $479. It was clearly a different product.

Lenovo from Costco has a worse screen but better performance due to larger memory and SSD over emmc. Lenovo is much better for media consuming because of the aspect ratio of the screen.

Acer one is about $50 cheaper (if you can make use of the free controller), has better build quality and much better 2-in-1 to use in tablet mode and productivity use cases.

The newer version is $80 off today, the first discount ever (it just launched).

Basically identical but with the EVO processor. Much better graphics and Thunderbolt 4.

8GB/i3 version will eat up the sale of the i5/8GB version and lower the profit margin. It is all about profit.

Good points. I don't have much of a use for the controller.

In store the Lenovo was cheaper than on the site. So I went with the Lenovo for the higher performance

I figured 2k was overkill for what I am doing. I have options for highe
