Nope, better to spend that money towards a better lens.
Go with 28 - 75 2.8 tamron. Not too expensive and versatile.
Tamron 28-75 would be the cheapest lens worth buying if you're looking for a similar range. Full frame is expensive though, that's just something you'll have to come to grips with if you want good lenses.

Until there are solid details, assume no.

The rumor, according to sonyrumors, is that it is going to get announced September this year

Is it better to buy this body used? If so what's a good used price given that the shutter count isn't too high
I sold a brand new one I bought as a backup on Fred Miranda for $1400. So anything under $1400 for under 10k actuations should be a good price.

Isn't the A7IV around the corner?
Will it be leaps and bounds better? Even if so, do you need better in the 24mpix range, as the a7r3 is the best camera ever made, with the r4 for just a little bit more loot, give a clear advantage accross your lens system #sonyfanboy

The a7c is available as part of this same deal. EDU price at Adorama is currently $1,618.20 (body only): https://www.adorama.com/isoa7cb.html. I was considering that one before the a7iii price dropped.
I would check reviews for the a7c before pulling the trigger on that. It has some significant ergonomic differences. The viewfinder and grip are much smaller.

Still a great camera but the color science is off. It's improved with the A7siii and A1 but still not like Canon. I don't get what's so hard to get it right since it should be software related.

Own this camera for the past two years and absolutely love it.

My only complant is the screen.. why the hell they didn't make it able to flip around I'll never know.

Lens: I own a few Tamron and they're fantastic.

Yes. The Tamron 17-28 2.8.. I use it professionally for real estate and couldn't be happier with the results. My clients love the images. If you have any other real estate questions fire away or send a DM.

Yeah, I bought one for like $130 and color rendition, corner sharpness, and distortion were all perfectly reasonable. I mean, it's a cheap lens. Being native though allowed for automatic corrections.

I went with the 24-105/4 when I upgraded, because the Tamron also starts at 28, and I found that's just not wide enough for a standard zoom despite the better build quality and iq over the Sony kit. The GM is just another beast entirely.
The 24-105 GM lens is awesome. It's my one size fits all lens and I don't think I need another lens anytime soon. I was able to get one for a little less than $800 used from Amazon.

A7III is a good camera and all, but it's really a video camera. And of all the modern Sony offerings, this is the only one without unlimited video recording. A6600, A7C are the best bets. A7III is simply getting phased out.

I have this lens and totally agree

Although I love it, I recently replaced my 28-75 with Tamron 28-200 f2.8-5.6 and like the latter better as a all-in-one travel lens. Totally depends on your use case.
