Ship by Amazon Warehouse has Asus TM-AC1900 Router for sale for $48.00.
T-Mobile (AC-1900) By ASUS Wireless-AC1900 Dual-Band Gigabit Router, AiProtection with Trend Micro for Complete Network Security (Renewed)

Free Ship and Free Return.

Converting this to the Merlin Asus Firmware is the way to go with this router. Will need a little reading and computer know how to do it. I can be achieve as fast as 30 mins if you know what you are doing.
For the price, it's still a pretty good router to use, however, some poster notes putting a few more $$ for AX model of your choice.

This is a great router. Bought it for $50 2-3 years ago. Can't believe it held the price so well.

At this point you should buy one of the AX routers that come up near this price unless you're so dead-ass broke that even Taco Bell looks like a luxury meal.

I still use mine and its fantastic, rock-solid. But you should invest in something else, it's 2021 outside. And no hassle of flashing the firmware either ( not that this router is not capable ).

Do you recommend an ax series router? I am running two of these with merlin OS strong for many years. Couple newer models I having been keeping an eye are $300-$400 range.

I was in the same boat with two merlin firmware in a mesh setup. A singular Xfinity AX router beat them both in coverage and speed. I live in a residential neighborhood crowded with wireless signals, not sure what AX does differently from AC but I no longer deadspots in my wifi coverage. Everyone also says there are big difference between low end and high end AX routers so your mileage will vary.

I have this router and pretty solid. Can upgrade to an AX technology router, but for a normal day to day use, this router with Merlin Asus Firmware still keeps up with the time.
For $48, can't go wrong after doing a little conversion to merline firmware. Took me 30 mins to convert one from the Tm-ac1900 firmware. Unless you want to spend that extra few bucks for the X version, then by all means. Then again, if you want to put $$$$ for the latest and greatest, that is also your prerogotive option.

I don't know. I bought this router a few years ago and flashed it. It was pretty solid. Then I was given a Orbi router base Station (no satellite) and it is way better when it comes to speed and range. Most of us use the internet a lot, tons of devices, streaming etc. Honestly, at this point it should be worth spending a little extra for something you use constantly. This was a great deal when the router was current, now, don't be stingy, buy the most current generation of routers. By the way, go back to one of these threads from years ago, people had tons of issues and questions flashing this thing. It's not THAT intuitive.

This is a fun router/AP to play around with, or use as a bridge, but honestly the specs are dated now. A few years ago easily worth the $50, these days id go with a cheap AX router like the AX1500.

Still pretty solid router, dated but solid. I suspect it's better than most low-end AX router. My AC66R (which is slightly worse than this one) is still going strong and can still get a respectable 450Mbps over Wifi. I was surprised when my Google Wifi router (provided by Google Fiber) couldn't hit as high (~400Mbps) and I was standing right next to it.

I'm still using the Google Wifi though for the mesh network and using AC66R as a media bridge (think USB WiFi dongle on steroids) and been happy with that setup too. So if you for some reason you want wired connection (e.g. most wifi dongles don't work out-of-box on Linux) then this is a great option too. You will need to flash the firmware which is probably PITA.

How important is wpa3 over wpa2? Is it just fluff?

Ordered one of these a few months back and had all types of problems trying to flash it... Only to find out that it was already flashed
