I posted pictures of my actual purchase. I have been meaning to buy this phone at the lowest price possible, but have had bad luck.
I have posted two almost identical posts from different providers because I had to buy the phone; therefore checking the prices often, helped me enormously.

I had an old iphone 6 from one of these prepaid deals that got updated and locked me out since I didn't have a sim to activate the phone over cellular even though I only wanted to use it as an ipod touch. Don't want the same thing to happen again.

To me your experience sounds like the phone was reported as stolen, or something like that.
Did you even try the customer service line from the provider?! Even the customer service number from Apple could have helped with this issue.
As for this deal you can use it without any plan if you wish. You will receive a brand new phone, I never had a problem with being locked out.

I think I only paid $59.00 for it so didn't bother to go through all the trouble of customer service, cause Apple CS is terrible when you don't have Apple Care.

I can just connect to my home' WiFi if I need more data, and will be fully unlocked after the Net10 yearly plan expires 🙂

Few weeks ago. One of my uncles is using it on ultra mobile.
Bought a different color feom about 2 months ago and another uncle of mine is using it with T-Mobile.
I used rsim 13 to do the soft unlock. If you ever have to reset your iPhone, it will lock it up again and will have to use the rsim again…at that point, you have to hope that the loophole hasn't been blocked by Apple.
As for this deal I am also looking to use to as an iPod when I workout.
