Is this mainly used to "feel" whats behind the wall, like pipes or wires, instead of cutting into it too fast with a power tool?

I don't think that would be a good idea... The teeth on this saw would cause all kinds of problems when contacting PVC pipe or electrical wiring.
*it was good enough to make the pilot holes and corners, and a few inches, then I got tired and just took my reciprocating saw on the rest, knowing there were no obstructions.
