Apple AirPods Max Space Gray on sale for $449. This is $100 off of the regular $549. Lowest price I have personally seen on NEW.

For what it's worth, I own a number of higher end Bluetooth headphones (Sony, Sennheiser, Bang & Olufsen, Master & Dynamic, and these). These are undoubtedly my most used headphones.

Pricey? Sure. Worth it? Absolutely, IF you're deep into the Apple ecosystem and you'll be using these with Apple products, at least an iPhone. (More products = more features.) If not, don't waste your money.

Also, note that these don't come with an aux cable. That's extra, but it's what's needed to get you near audiophile sound.

And no, they *technically* don't do lossless, but unless you have superhuman hearing, you won't be able to tell the difference anymore than you could with, say, a pair of Sennheiser Momentum 3's.

I'd say they're totally worth it at this price if you're looking for a good user experience. If you're just looking for SOUND and nothing else (we'll, other than wireless capabilities), get the Bang & Olufsen H9's ($350 now) or the MW65's (at Costco for $270 now).

TL;DR - for Apple users, these are great. Get them and don't look back. For non-Apple users, don't waste your money. But most people honestly would be well-enough served by finding a pair of good TWSs or wireless headphones for about $200.
These things need to be $399 at the most.

Had a pair and returned them.

Boat anchors on your head with painful clamp force

Sound is fine - good even - but not $549 good and really not $449 good either.

The Apple markup here is similar to the original MSRP on the HomePod (also way too much and we saw how that went...took years to sell the inventory and discontinued)
Writing as I'm listening to the Airpods Max. I also have the Bose 700. The APM may have better clarity and tighter bass, but when the track gets busy, you don't get a clean separation like with well amplified wired headphones. To be honest, the sound quality itself is not significant enough to go with the Airpods. The build quality, design and integration into Apple ecosystem is bar none. The Bose is actually more comfortable. I just don't think bluetooth audio has reach the point where you can squeeze a DAC/Amp in an ear cup to drive the headphones to the levels of a pair of wired headphones. So buy the headphone with the best connectivity and comfort.

I have owned a wide range of headphones all the way up to Hifiman Susvaras.

Apple deal threads are always so predictable.

Why do people waste energy coming into threads to complain about the price and say Apple is junk?

This is a good price for those who want these headphones.

These are the same people who complain that burger king doesn't sell a Big Mac. Complaining just to complain. Good deal OP. I've used these and they are fantastic.
