Klipsch are known for fudging the actual sensitivity db numbers but these are still good efficient speakers. Just wanted to add 1 watt gets you 96 db at only 3 feet but I agree with you that 30-40 watts is all you'll need
Yeah 10 watts would get you reference volume at 3 feet. Generally in a room you'll lose 4db per meter, so 8 DB extra would get you there from 9 feet. But really most people are solidly 15-20db below reference usually.

I'm definitely interested in these, was sad that I missed the RP sell last month. I wish it came with a Demon receiver though as I'm not sure about either the Onkyo or Pioneer (both make good products but you gotta be careful with you're recurved selection). Here's a straight up comparison for the two. What is everyone else's thoughts on which is the better choice?

I used to like Onkyo a lot but I understand they're still having quality control issues and may be going out of business.

Also, the 504c and 600m reference premieres are on sale if this package doesn't meet your needs.
I have an Onkyo I'm not happy with. Bad Google assistant connection and standby issues with my x90h TV. When it works, the sound quality is good for the price

C'mon Klipsch is one of the few major manufacterers who use horn for loading so in fact they are much more efficient than a normal dome tweeter setup. Go read up on the tech please.

Most tuba and soundstage often use horns for their directionality and control, so if you are going to use these speakers angle and azimuth setup are important to sound in the tweeters.

I have had many versions of Klipsch to Cornwall's etc and used to setup soundstages so I learned a lot hanging around real smart sound engineers.

Note horns are an acquired taste so before you plop down $2k go hear them live first imho.

Now understand 3db is a doubling of power level so Klipsch in general don't need more than a clean 100w to mains to sound good because this setup has a powered sub. The ports help in efficiency.

I would add, in all fairness the specs are also "misleading" in actual real world use.

Many things come into play with it like how efficient are the speakers, distance you're listening, listening level, etc.

I would say from personal experience either of these receivers would have no problem driving 9 Klipsch speakers at average real world levels.
Typically most receivers today are seriously underpowered but if you find the mains and center are distorting you can always add a good 3/5 way amp to the setup later like an outlaw. The surrounds don't normally require much overhead so it's a surgical maneuver.

Some folks suggest biamping but few modern receivers support that and you run out of terminals pretty fast. Not saying no, it's just not as easy as the old days.

IMO this is still misleading when it comes to real world use.

I get people love to debate these stress test numbers and specs but there are many many other things that play into how it will perform for each of us beforehand.

Take for instance this package:
If you found that either of these receivers was "seriously underpowered" and your center & mains were "distorting" in real world use, I'm gambling it's not a power issue it's a user issue.
These do not need a lot of power to get them to their potential.

IMO concluding something is seriously underpowered by reading some numbers & stats is no where near as accurate than listening at real world use.

Today's receivers are much more efficient than the "old days" but people continue to use the "old days" as a barometer as how something will perform(ie the weight).

Two different classes of speakers! The post here is talking about the Reference Premiere Line ('RP') whereas the speakers you purchased are the Reference Line. The Reference line (excluding the flagship RF-7 IIIs) are decent speakers but are mainly for the average consumer who wants a step up from soundbars. They're big box store speakers-- you'll find them at your local Best Buy. The Reference Premiere line are relatively premium variants that are relatively much better value for the sonically discriminating customer but if you're not one to nit pick on audio and just want a decent home theater setup, the set you already bought is great bang for the buck. Personally, I think this is a fantastic deal and despite having a couple of speakers I really enjoy, I'm highly considering this as a 9.2 receiver, RP-600Ms, the full size RP center channel, RP-8000s, plus the sub (though I'd say the sub is by far the weakest link in this package) are IMO nearly an ideal mid range home theater acoustic solution. I'd say each of these products, except the sub, are excellent picks of their own. In fact, the RP-600Ms are somewhat universally praised as the top pick for amazing bang-for-buck beginner audiophile speakers and the RP-8000s in the package are tower speaker variants of them, and the Klipsch RP full size center is also one of the best centers in this price class.

Another thing to note that some people touched on is that with the typical AVR (audio-video receiver), power is split among all the speakers. While Klipsch is mocked for being such a universal "beginner" [for audiophiles] speaker, one can't deny they make some speakers that make excellent use of the limited power a normal AVR can output. Any of the more expensive speakers will also require a far more expensive AVR, or AV separates. What I'm getting at is, for a home theater/surround audio setup that's better than the OP, expect to spend FAR more money on a more complex setup for noticeable sonic improvements.

If you don't mind spending the money on this package, I'd highly recommend it; but the speakers you got earlier today are excellent for home theater purposes and I'd put the money elsewhere if that's all you're planning to do with them.

EDIT: I just noticed that the ones you posted doesn't come with a receiver. So the real cost is going to be 1100-1200 (assuming you're getting a receiver appropriate for those speakers) vs 2200. Since that's the case, I'd DEFINITELY recommend this set if you can swing it. It has more room for expansion if you plan on doing a dolby atmos setup!

You are going to get a lot of opposing opinions on that question.

I doubt you will get anyone not to say these will sound "better", the debate will be whether the price difference is worth it. Unfortunately in the end no one can actually answer that for you.

Keep in mind you are comparing a 5.1+receiver vs a 5.1.2 w/o receiver. The irony is, this comes with a "Atmos" receiver that doesn't need it.

Unfortunately you need a "Atmos" receiver to take full advantage of your package.
That "Atmos" design can be challenging to get best results and in the end how good it is will vary for each person.

Just remember there is always something better, whether it's worth it will vary from person to person.

I just got back from Nebraska Furniture Mart (I'm lucky to live near one) and they couldn't match this price. And they are a store the claims they'll beat any price haha. They said this was way too far below their margin, they wanted $3300 (although that was with a $400 better avr). So at their best it was $2900 equivalent, that tells you how great of a deal this is. In for 1, still not sure on Onkyo vs Pioneer though....

Yeah, I hear you. I used to love them, and I still much prefer their interface to Denon. Unfortunately they have been really bad the last few years.
