As someone else said, the bag is small and you have to empty it often, but I still think it's easier than having to rake it all up.

It is mostly plastic, but for homeowner use every so often, it works well.

Ok, I have never dethatched my lawn before. I bought a dethatching lawn mower blade that really just balded my lawn(luckily I only did a very small area). Is this a better option?

Yeah. Otherwise, you need to futz with the mower's blade. There will always be a little friendly-fire. Just clear the area, re-seed, and water.

Only PITA is to rake the thatch. But now that I have my indentured servant son, I don't rake anymore. Big Grin

I have this and never looked back.

I've been researching this. Best bet is to rent at Home Depot for like $60 something an hour. You'll want a commercial one to get the consistency & efficiency versus something cheaper. The "red" one HD has us commercial grade and has great reviews. It'll plug 2-3" I believe. I plan on renting and using one this Fall. Probably will need a couple folks to load / unload the beast.

I have one of these. It was useful to help pull up dead moss but I had to go over it so many times that the lawn needs a lot more seed.
