Best Buy is selling a 1 pack Eero 6 Router for $83. Add 3 to the cart and it drops to $75.34 per unit - $226 for all 3. A 3 pack of the routers is normally $349, so this is a great deal. You can hardwire all of them since it's not the extenders.

Eero was around before Amazon bought them recently. And their products have had quality ratings over the last several years so I'm confused how the product is now worse now that Amazon has purchased them. Amazon didn't create the eero brand like their relabeled Amazon basics stuff.

If there's something specific then let everybody know outside of the fact that Amazon has purchased that company. Older users familiar with eero are also used to a high quality standard they have had for some time.
Speeds are much faster if you are hard wired. We have a two story house and we have one on each level and speeds are really good because they are all hard wired on each level.
Devices add up pretty quickly...don't underestimate how many computers, phones, tablets, smart watches, game consoles, tv's, alexa/google devices, stoves, washer, dryer, speakers, bulbs, and countless other items all add up. I wouldn't say I have even the average number of devices a small family would have and I'm up to low twenties.

What is better….this is eero pro 2nd gen? Not WiFi 6 but tri-band

Tbh until wifi 6 is baked I'd just buy the cheapest ones you can get because why pay $300 if in a few years you'll want to upgrade. Sure endpoints need to catch up. I bought refurb orbi rbr40/rbs40 an ebay for like $50 and they get 300mbs no problem which is my fiber speed. They have triband but I hardwired them. Yes the software sucks but they are rock solid.

I mean for years I got about with a single access point no problem, I think all these mesh baloney is a way to separate you from $300 vs $50 and they are gimped with no dedicated backhaul. Call that a waste of money unless you are hardwired.

Why only 800? What is slowing you down for 1gb? I actually have the same situation and it drives me nuts

Your isp router was designed to get line speed because if it didn't people like you would go crazy if you didn't get a gig on a speed test. The most likely reason why on these is either one of two things. One the virtual lan switch is cheap and can only bridge wifi to wired at 800mbps which is likely, or eero software has some packet inspection going that the processor can't handle. you could try turning off parental controls, bit don't turn off the firewall. if you turn off the firewall you will be breached by Chinese and Russian probes in a day. I'm not kidding on this, I watch these probes on my secure vlan 24/7. There could be some mtu setting that may help but that is likely the issue.

When you say "hard wired", do you mean connecting a Ethernet cable from the main router to the other two? I'm a novice

Our router is connected to a switch. Switch connects to different rooms in the house via Ethernet. So essentially you have hardwire connection to your router. Switch is just splitting the signal.

This is so true. We are just a family of 2 adults and 2 young children and we have 39 devices now. If you have security cameras and smart home, the devices will go up real fast… Frown

Is it 75 device per eero router or x3 if you have 3 of them?

These are "only" AX1800. Will a mesh network with three AX1800 rated routers operate similar to a single AX4800 if all my devices are linked to the 3 routers evenly?

I'm wondering if it's worth returning these to get a higher 'AX' rated router setup.

Not recommended. Eero pushes out firmware all the time and insists on updating the firmware themselves automatically without any option to postpone. You can be in the middle of something important and the whole house's wifi would go dark, cutting you off in the middle of a video conference or whatever for 1/4 hr. People have been complaining about it for years and Eero has done nothing. The workaround is to buy an extra Eero but leave it unplugged to trick the whole system not to update due an offline unit. You also have to pay for eero+ if you want to use the (often inaccurate) advance bandwidth monitor. Every time when there's an issue the official stance is almost always that they are 100% compliant with Wifi standards and the other party's 'funky' (can be Apple or whoever) WiFi implantation is at fault. There's no user accessible logs on the device and you have to call them if you want to troubleshoot or to change advance settings. For the longest time you can't even force 2.4ghz without calling them to remote into your eeros. People were at one point, warping devices in aluminum foils or standing at the edge of coverage just to setup 2.4ghz only devices. You'd also lose all local access if your internet's down too. Booooo.

After reading all the good reviews, I bought 3 of these. It gives our PC and laptops the same speed as my old MG7540. But it has problems with all the iPhones and iPads in the house. We tried 5 different iPhone/iPad devices, Eero gave us different speed on different tests but usually half of what it gives to our PC/laptops. We did lots tests and the results were consistent on MG7540. But when testing on Eero, it's ok on PC/laptops but consistently giving bad and inconsistent results on all of our iOS devices. This Eero thing is for dummies where there are few advance configurable options. If you know a little bit about network and routers, stay the hell out of this cheap router for dummies. They are going back to BestBuy!

This deal provides 3 "hubs" - each with 2 lan ports. This is great if you can do a wired back-haul for the devices. The one you posted comes with one hub and two extenders. The extenders only attach wirelessly which uses some of your bandwidth.

One of my home Linksys WRT3200 ACMs died (was in pair), so I tried to get the Costco ones - shipping only. Ended up getting the BestBuy deal.

These are working really well and seem to get better performance than with the Linksys pair.
