These are great for travel trailers that use a soft starter like the micro air easy start. Small enough to run it and easy to carry and using propane runs cleaner.

I think it's the regular price since it's new, but I had been waiting for over 2 months. I checked the Westinghouse 4500 DF. Same price as champion but lower watts and poorer customer service from what I read. I also looked at the predator 3500 and they have gone up to 849. I needed a new one since I think I fried the old predator during the last heatwave here.

I have a traditional generator which outputs 30A that I connect to the generator panel. This doesnt seem to have a 30A output. So how do I connect this one to my existing wiring?
Not an electrician, but if it had 2 seperate circuits you could probably use something like this.

This is a great deal. I'm also a 100899 version owner (same electrical and front panel as this one, but more yellow plastic). I have been happy with it. I have only run mine on propane. Try starting it like the manual says, but I found that if you keep it in the choke/start setting and keep pulling the cord that it will start to sputter to life. Then I quickly rotate the switch to the propane/run setting and away it goes. With that start procedure, it starts with 4-5 pulls from cold.
This generator and mine use the same inverter module so electrically they should be the same. With a 1kW load, I measured 1.56% THD which is pretty clean (cleaner than my home AC).

You would need a 240v outlet to properly connect it to a typical residential panel. A panel generally has two 120v phases - two hots and a neutral. A 240v line would basically power each of the two sides with 120v each, which would then power your house. Obviously, you would want a transfer switch when doing any of this.

Not sure why so many newer generators are dropping the 12V/8A output in favor of wimpy 5V 2A USB outlets.

I mean I can see the value of USB ports, but without a 12V output there's no good way to use these to charge up batteries. And if I had to choose one or the other I'd rather have the 12V, because it's trivial to adapt 12V DC to USB.

I just returned an A-I Power 2000W Dual Fuel inverter (was $399 @ Walmart last week) which actually advertised a 12V output and said it included 12V cables. When it arrived, there were no 12V cables in the box and the place obviously intended for the 12V output up on top of the generator was just a hole in the case covered by a rubber plug.

I called them up and they basically said it was a new design and the 12V power port was removed. I guess they couldn't be bothered to change the box, manual and product description submitted to Walmart accordingly. So annoying.

I have a feeling that small duel fuel inverters like these are going to become more plentiful and hopefully cheaper, so I'm going to wait and see what else comes to market rather than jump on yet another inverter with no 12V.

Yes if you would use the propane feature. It's basically the same unit if you don't.

Depends if propane is important to you. This is certainly a lot lighter and has a 3 year warranty, not two. Dont need this, already have an inv gen. If I did need it, get Lowes to pm then get the 10% military discount.
