Hey guys - Just a quick PSA for when these orders likely get xcled - When you call to complain, whine, threaten to never shop at HD again, yell at or say how you'll sue them, blablabla, remember that the person you're speaking to didn't cancel or decide to do so to your order. They will stick to the script. Take the 20% off your next order, free ship or whatever consolation offer they give and move on.

They aren't getting paid enough to care about your interpretation of a law or that you will never shop there again and how much you spend there. Trust this.

Should go without saying, but some of the posts here are pretty concerning...

this is my favorite part of a deal on SD. when a deal gets cancelled. when all the "lawyers" come out.

You can definitely still cancel after 45 minutes. It just gets put in to a queue to see if it's still cancelable. If it hasn't shipped, most times it's still cancelable. Even if it has shipped, you can call the carrier and have them send the package back to the sender.
That's what my experience has been. The grayed out button still seems odd. I think it's to arrest any changes to the orders until they can fix the problem. I hope they honor it but not likely.

How do you figure that? They're aren't selling mattresses "at cost". HD paid a fraction of the retail price.
because if they meant to mark the price as 1200 and marked it as 200, they're netting 1000 less per mattress....

it doesn't matter if they're still netting a surplus on a $200 mattress. that person would still have cost the company 1000/mattress in gains

Got my Cancellation email! No reason given.

The below item has been canceled from your order and you won't be charged for it.

I'm sure everyone knows my position. HD absolutely promoted this price as "The Deal of the Day!" on this item with a clock ticking down and specific inventory listed.

It's almost impossible for HD to argue that this was a price mistake given this.

I don't have a screenshot of that however.

If someone does have a screenshot of that, could you please post it or forward it to me.

TIA

It is likely someone is getting fired for this and it the orders are honored I think that person should be referred to as Mattress Jesus. Him or her got fired so that we could be cumfy.

And? Who says the sold 10,000? I doubt any store sells 10,000 mattresses in a year. Lol. And how much did they buy them for? They haven't lost anything unless they sell them less than "their cost".

Based on on me being a registered member here for over 15 years, and unregistered some time before that, price mistakes like this one usually do not ship. There is the ultra rare occasion, where they do, or even sometimes the company has sent a gift card for the inconvenience ($5, $10), but the overwhelming majority of the time these get canceled. No hard data, but I would easily guess 95+ % of the time they are canceled.

Regardless, as usual I did order one hoping it falls in that 5%.

And as usual, this thread is mirroring the normal progress of price mistake threads.

Even if they sell them at below cost they can claim losses and recover those funds. Not a huge deal for them.

Lol. You're ASSUMING they would have sold those mattresses for $1000. Stores routinely mark items down 50-75-90% to get rid of them if they don't sell.

THIS WAS HD'S "DEAL OF THE DAY. That UNDERMINES their attempts to claim this was a pricing error, especially when setting a specific time to order this deal, and listing a specific amount of these items in inventory.

HD absolutely promoted this price as "The Deal of the Day!" on this item with a clock ticking down and specific inventory listed.

It's almost impossible for HD to reasonably argue that this was a price mistake given this.

Lol. They didn't sell 10000 mattress in a couple hours. They found their mistake and zero'd out the inventory. Duh.

This thread is off-the-rails extra early. They haven't even cancelled orders yet, and people are posting like they are going to take HD to court. LOL. Reading this thread is like watching a slow motion train wreck - painful to see, but hard to look away.
