Lowest price ever. Amazon price tracker website shows an average of ~$200.

New model: "Date First Available July 21, 2020", though not necessarily an "upgrade" to the VE model.

Caveat: it's unclear if this newer model fixes the "melting plastic inner lid" issue. You can try to prolong its lifetime by not running it 24/7. For the VE model with this lid issue, folks were able to buy replacement parts after deterioration from 1-2 years of use. Their online manual states, "The lnner Lid Gasket may need to be replaced due to time and wear. We recommend that you replace it about once a year."
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

I can walk to work, why buy a car?
Why are you here then ? Personally I didn't see the use for these until I spent some time in my girlfriends household. With several people drinking tea, eating instant noodles, or even just drinking hot water all the time I can't imagine how they'd survive without one of these.
I think this product is for people who want hot water ON DEMAND.
You're not paying for something to boil hot water.

Confirmed, this expired when checking earlier today, and checking right now, it looks like the sale price is back.

that is abnormal usage

everyone i know that has one just keeps them on 24/7 and they never replace them. my moms is 15+ years old n still going strong

I just empty the leftover water once it is nearly empty and fill it up n leave it on
Not entirely abnormal, they have a sleep timer as one of the buttons so a person can turn it off while at work for six hours or overnight. Somewhat crude 2,4,6,8,10 and not a wake timer, just off for X hours. I use a smart plug on mine to turn on in the morning and use Alexa to power off when I've used the last time for the day.

it's abnormal because you're forcing power cycles to something that is made to be on 24/7, thats why the energy saver option is turned OFF by default.

remember these are insulated so it takes very little power to keep it boiled

You can apply the same concept to a CPU or hard drive in a computer running at regular operation temps 24/7 vs being shut off and turned back on everyday.. or a car driving 5k miles on the highway vs stop and go traffic

or.. just look at all the comments from asian households (here, amazon, etc) that keep them on 24/7 for years and never have issues.

34-39W (from manual) is not exactly very little power. If they were vacuum/thermos insulated I might agree. It's constantly power cycling as the heat turns on until set temp and then off until cooled enough to heat again like nearly any thermostat based item.
