Bought a few of the 15.6" plus models for $99 and I don't like facebook and rarely do video calls but these were great hardware for the money paid. It's very responsive. You don't need a facebook account to use it. With Plex, Alexa, security camera streaming, recipes, and music services working on it it's very useful. Great device for the kitchen especially. The microphone will also pick up a whisper if you want to quietly check a Ring or Wyze camera. Looks like they have replaced the clearanced 15.6" model with a $350 14" version.

Really? For the price, a $100 video chat tablet would be great - I thought they had FB branded and locked firmware.

It's locked down, you can't sideload anything, but it's correct you don't need facebook to use it. I was concerned when I bought these they were going to be obsolete but looks like Facebook is doubling down on this platform and adding more features including Netflix streaming when the new models roll out.

Does Zoom work on the Gen 1 Portal 10.1" version? FB product page doesn't include Zoom but some other places mention it.

Second, does the power adapter work across 110-240V?
[Update: according to the user manual, yes, 110-240V supported]
