That said, using the same THX Onyx and 360kb mp3 with Audio Technica CKR90is - it was was not nearly as good. Remove the USB DAC and the difference is even more pronounced.
Westones are audiophile-level hardware so you really have to be into it. Non-audiophiles can notice a difference when listening back-to-back. They cost more for a reason, but whether a person thinks it is worth orders of magnitude more than regular IEMs is more of a personal choice.
