The Coway is currently rated the top air purifier on WireCutter [nytimes.com], but in their review they rank the Winix at nearly the same performance.

If you get the Costco Winix on sale for $99 with the additional filters, that's definitely a better deal, but with wildfire season upon us it may be wise to purchase the Coway now.

These were $119 in December when I purchased for a gift but I haven't seen it that low since. Snagged one for myself at this price, with free next day delivery too! Thanks OP!

Very good! Best I've ever seen this was $119 last year (also Walmart). I bought two. Replacement filters are ~$40 on Amazon (lasts >2 years)

I've got two of these that run almost constant in our house. Replace the filters every 2 years. Grabbing and third for smoke season this year. Thanks!

Good timing after the air quality in the north east US is very poor due to the wild fires.

This one is more sensitive than my winix 5500 and thats something! This one is quiet too. Bought it when it was on sale at $99 and would buy it again. PS, most utility companies will have rebates

I have both and might be swapping entirely to the Costco winix c545 mainly due to how convenient the app is and the color matches my white walls better.

This coway is absolutely better in every way possible including a filter that will last longer and cost around the same. On the lowest speed I personally find it more quiet. The auto mode seems more aggressive than the winix. I've had my coway longer and expect it to last longer lol.

Thanks got one. I got the one that looks like a speaker for $150 a few months back and it's been great so now I'm getting one for upstairs. Looks like this is a newer version of that model. Hoping they use the same filters.

I have one as well. They work very well. Both taking pretty dander out if the air as well as helping reduce coming smoke/smell (or maybe I'm just convincing myself). Would definitely recommend

The Winix 5500-2 is an exceptional performer on particulates, capturing 99.9% of the smoke in our test room in just 30 minutes on high, and 97.2% on its medium-high setting, where it emits an easy-to-live-with 40 decibels. In both cases, that's a bit better than the Coway AP-1512HH, though in practice the differences are moot: Both machines, when used continuously as they are in most homes, will drop particulates to near zero in under an hour—and keep them there. We still prefer the Coway for its lower energy consumption, smaller footprint, display-shutoff feature, and more attractive look, but it's a close race.

Wow how did you get this at $99, don't think it ever went that low. Def slick at $99 though.

If you want more coverage area for less money or already have a box fan, you can get very good reductions with a box fan and Merv 13 filter. Not quite as good as HEPA, but not far off. 87% vs 98% reductions in pm2.5 in Wirecutter testing.
